One of her best

Loved listening to this story. Fascinating pictures painted of life before independence in India and the British Way of life and privilege. I found it spell binding. Sorry when it ended.

My First Audible book - Kim Noyce

A huge Fiona McIntosh Fan, I thought I would try listening to an audio version for the very first time . I chose this book ultimately because I loved the sound of the Narrator Joe Jameson , as I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with the storyline- I’ve never read a book from Fiona I didn’t like ! Loved the story and the inspiration behind it , I myself having a great grandfather from India and have never visited there . Fiona took me there with her marvellous storytelling and Joe’s narrating was absolutely amazing ! I would definitely purchase another audio if it was Narrated as well as this one . Highly recommend this book for audio. I was sad when it ended ! Thank you for such an enjoyable experience Fiona & Joe . Regards, Kim Noyce

I couldn't stop listening.

The male narrator was a change from female narrators I am so used to, he handled all the characters perfectly, (except for the little sister - so s l o w - which drove me mad - not at all like a child ) his Indian accents were excellent and his female voices were great.. I am so sorry to be picky, Joe Jameson, otherwise in my opinion you did an excellent job! I loved the fascinating progression of this story of these two young men. Not only the contrast between them and what their differences resulted in, but It was fast paced, colourful, believable, informative and kept me wanting to listen for hours. Fiona is an excellent story teller and I will be getting more of her books. The ending had a valuable lesson mirroring that we can give without expecting thanks or reward. Ever.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I chose this book with some trepidation as I was not sure I would like the narrator. However I was proved totally wrong. I could not stop listening to this absorbing story and didn’t want it to end. Thanks so much, I can’t wait for her next new release.
