Fidibus ist der kleinste Feuerdrache in ganz Furipais und da in diesem Land die Bedeutung eines Drachens sich immer auch in seiner Körpergröße zeigt, beweist seine Winzigkeit, wie nutzlos er sich meistens fühlt und wie einsam er seine Tage verbringt. Eines Abends betreten zwei Zauberdrachen während eines epischen Gelages heimlich das Schloss der Oberdrachin Gundula. Nur Fidibus bemerkt sie und als er sich ihnen todesmutig in den Weg stellt, weil alle anderen dazu nicht mehr in der Lage sind, um die Feuerdrachen im Alleingang gegen diese Eindringlinge zu verteidigen, da passiert etwas ganz Unglaubliches, das sein Leben für immer verändern wird.
