Publisher's Summary

A sensitive wolf shifter and a vicious vampire challenge history, greed, and the very fabric of their beings in order to stay together until forever comes.

Plagued by pain and weakness all his life, Ethan Abbatt is a wolf shifter who can't shift. Hoping to find an honorable death by joining his packmates in a vampire attack, Ethan instead learns two things: Draining his blood releases his pain and his wolf, and he has a true mate: a vampire named Miguel.

More than four centuries old, strong, powerful, and vicious, Miguel Rodriguez walks through life as a shadow, without happiness or affection. When a young shifter tells Miguel they're true mates, destined to be together, Miguel sends him away. But Ethan is persistent, and being together comes so naturally that Miguel can't resist for long. The challenge is keeping themselves alive so they can stay by each other's side until forever comes.

    5 stars out of 5

Charlie David’s take on the character voices is HOT. So, so sexy…and perfect and…what was I saying?

This story has it all: Sex, humor, action…sex!

The world building is interesting, the pace is fast, and I loved these two characters! Ethan’s sweetness covers a core of steel and Miguel, well, Miguel is mostly steel with a tiny, tiny core of sweetness that’s pretty much only for Ethan. Their passion is so HOT! I love that he makes Miguel sound like Antonio Banderas! *rawr*
If you haven’t already – check out Charlie David’s narration of the scorching hot shifter story. You won’t be sorry!

RECOMMENDED!

NOTE: This is the 2nd edition - originally published in audio book on November 11, 2013 with same narrator.

    "Extraordinary take on PNR"

I loved this take on paranormal. The only other time I can recall a Vampire with a Lycan was in Underworld (the movie) but it was nothing like this.

Charlie David did Miguel so, so well, the sexy *astard! He gave me chills. Think Antonio Banderas in Interview with a Vampire. *sigh*

Then he went and got his southern twang on for Ethan and it was just adorable. These two couldn't be more opposite, but they absolutely work together. I really liked the concept of Ethan's blood and how he became strong only in the arms of Miguel. It was an extra fictional flare that made their bond all that much stronger.

I adore Cardeno's imagination, and this book only proves what a great one she has. I also love how romantic her writing is. The characters are strong and soft and loaded with steamy goodness.

    Story
    "Loved this M/M paranormal romance!"

In this second book in the Mates series, we get to revisit two characters that showed up briefly toward the end of the first book, Ethan and Miguel. When I read about their characters in that book, I found them intriguing and was hoping that I'd get to find out more about them. So, I was very happy to see that Until Forever Comes was their story.

This story deviates a bit from the standard shifter mates type formula since while Ethan is a shifter, Miguel is a vampire. But while some things in the shifter world may usually play out along a certain set of rules, not everything will always follow those rules, and this is one of those times--giving us the unique deviation that forms their relationship.

I found the explanations behind Ethan and Miguel's unusual pairing quite interesting and it made for an intriguing read. The chemistry between the two in terms of anything not sexual though didn't quite feel as authentic. Their sexual chemistry though? Super hot and it made for some holy-wow-I-need-a-cold-shower scenes.

There's plenty of drama and suspense, and even though the emotional parts of Ethan and Miguel's relationship didn't quite ring as true for me as their sexual chemistry, I was still quite invested in their story.

Until Forever Comes was originally a solid 4-star read for me, but after listening to the audiobook, I've bumped that up to a 4.5. I'd recommend this book to readers who enjoy M/M paranormal romance, and this story is meant for those who are 18+ due to adult language and intense adult M/M sexual scenes.

Update-The narration: Do you know what narration can do for a story? It can change what I have rated a book previously. Charlie David's narration of Until Forever Comes? Beside the fact that he really brought the story alive and gave Ethan and Miguel distinct voices that suited each of them perfectly, he actually made me enjoy the story more than when I just read it myself...enough for me to throw another half star onto my rating. Even pacing, clear diction and the right balance of emotion made for a truly enjoyable listening experience! 5 stars for Mr. David's narration!

    Story
    "Star Crossed Paranormal Lovers"

There's a lot of interesting paranormal things going on here. Ethan is a werewolf who's never been able to shift, something that even very young boys should be able to do. This essentially makes him disabled in shifter society and he had his family have been ostracized because of this. Not expecting to live long anyways due to his health problems, Ethan joins the other young shifters in his pack on a poorly planned attack on some vampires, expecting to at least die with honor. Instead Ethan meets sexy vampire Miguel, who is his very unexpected mate, and everything changes.
Ethan was a cute, likable lead. He's funny and sweet, although I was a little frustrated at how helpless and powerless he was. He generally was a victim to be rescued every time the action picked up. His mate Miguel is sexy, but I found his character to be drawn in broad strokes. He was powerful and very old but I didn't get a strong feel for his personality. Luckily Ethan was outgoing enough he compensated for that really well.
The sex was hot, the romance moved along pretty fast, which isn't surprising in a true mates situation.
The shifter culture was explored enough to whet my interest for more. Their society didn't come off as a place you'd want to live, with false beliefs about heterosexuality being believed to be necessary to maintain a balance between their wolves and human nature, and the pack was surprisingly naive about how to live among human society, but those problems made the community a more interesting backdrop.
The conflicts between vampire and werewolf worlds were done well, although I'd have liked to see even more of it. I haven't read the first book in the series but I had no problem following the story so it worked well as a stand along.
Charlie David was an enjoyable narrator. He captured youthful and innocent Ethan and exotic worldly Miguel both well.

An interesting premise and such a sweet story. Loved Ethan and his resolute and differing perspective...it is what it is! Miguel falls for the undeniable logic. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey and I would be curious to see what the future holds for some of the cast...a good read!

Don't get me wrong, I love erotic romance. If that's your thing too, you'll really like this book. No real angst. It was a decent shifter/vampire story.
Cardeno C is pretty much an auto buy for me.

    "Unexpectedly Joyful"

This is the first novel I've read/listened to by this author and if this beautifully told tale is any indication of what other wonders are yet to be discovered it will not be my last.

I've read tales similar to this one but I have to say this one had such heart and passion in its telling that it makes me want to read the other stories in the series.

Vampires and werewolves, long bitter enemies offer the backdrop for this story of a love that defies the accepted blood feud and finds a way to shine and it truly does.

The narration is incredible give it a listen and decide for yourself you won't be sorry you did.

And I'm in love with this shifter world and the characters he has created to inhabit it. I need more mates books!

PS, there are even jokes in this series that had me laughing out loud.
