Publisher's Summary

Russell Green is about to discover the importance of unconditional love.

At 32, Russell Green has it all: a loving family, a successful career and a beautiful house. But underneath his seemingly perfect life, cracks are beginning to appear...and no one is more surprised than Russ when the life he took for granted is turned upside down.

Finding himself single-handedly caring for his young daughter, London, whilst trying to launch his own business, the only thing Russ knows is that he must shelter London from the consequences of these changes.

Then a chance encounter with an old flame tempts him to take a chance on love again, and with the support of his family, Russ finally comes to understand the true nature of unconditional love.

Music overpowering and a little distracting

Overall, a lovely moving story and good performance.
The music, although a nice inclusion, was too loud and overpowered the narrator.

A very different Sparks novel... Until the end.

Wasn't fussed about the music. Sometimes it didn't seem to fit and almost overpowered the reader.
Good story with great characterisation. I spent most of the novel angry 😡 towards the character of Vivian but be prepared for the last few chapters in which you'll need the tissues again 😭!

Heart warming

I’ve begun to be able to predict Nicholas Sparks novels, but I love them nonetheless. The story took a few wonderful twists and turns, and while I did anticipate the ending, the characters are certainly well written and thought out. Was definitely worth the listen.

blown away

A wonderfully written novel that was slow to begin with but became so engrossing. I was very sad that it came to an end. many pearls of wisdom, sad moments and happy moments. a brilliant performance by the narrator Ari Fliakos.

meandering, dull and predictable

I persisted with this book for 18 chapters waiting for something even remotely exciting or surprising to happen. My commute to work has never been so painfully slow.

Why include music

In my opinion, unnecessary use of music which distracts the listener rather than enhancing
the experience.

Not so interesting

A major part of this book is about the relationship between Russ and Vivian, it is the bottom stone of the whole story. Yet this part is a little boring and of cliche.

The chapters are not so intriguing. Story just went on and on, I nearly lost my interest towards the end. Marge's death is unpredictable and this is the only one chapter which brings me into tears or any emotions at all .

Lovely story and well read.....shame about the music

I have enjoyed his story and the end was a real shock. But there have been a few occasions where they suddenly bust out some music over the words..... strange and kind of distracting. I see what is trying to be done but it's so random!! Almost takes away from the moment. Weird!

Nice story but ...

I enjoyed the story but I found the narrator annoying when doing the voice of Vivian, it was very whiney but maybe that was to ensure you disliked the character. There was also extremely annoying music playing over the narration through various points in the book, I thought it was an error but it isn't
