Story

Story
In Las Vegas to cover a motorcycle race, Raoul Duke (Thompson) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (inspired by a friend of Thompson) are quickly diverted to search for the American dream. Their quest is fueled by nearly every drug imaginable and quickly becomes a surreal experience that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. But there is more to this hilarious tale than reckless behavior, for underneath the hallucinogenic facade is a stinging criticism of American greed and consumerism.

Story
Glue is the story of four boys growing up in the Edinburgh schemes, and about the loyalties, the experiences, and the secrets that hold them together into their 30s. Four boys becoming men: Juice Terry, the work-shy fanny-merchant, with corkscrew curls and sticky fingers; Billy the boxer, driven, controlled, playing to his strengths; Carl, the Milky Bar Kid, drifting along to his own soundtrack; and the doomed Gally, who seems to find catastrophe at every corner.

Brilliant
I'd only ever seen the film before but this was so much better. Honest and gritty, great writing. Narrator is fantastic and really tops it off, brilliant.

Excellent and engrossing
Having not watched the movie since it’s release I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It’s bigger and better.
Narration is top drawer.

Such a Classic
I am so pleased that I decided to read this as an audiobook. I am sure that it helped with the translation! The narrator certainly elevated the work in my eyes.

Disturbing genius
I was simultaneously revolted, irritated and in awe of this book. It is confronting, the protagonists oscillate between selfish, idiotic, cruel and pitiful. I had to read this for class, if I didn't there's no way I would I finished it, but now I have I'm glad that I did. The audio book format makes the scots dialect easier going than in the book form of the novel and the performance is excellent.

Welsh's breakthrough novel perfectly read by Tam Dean Burn. Vicious, funny, disturbing, great stuff the full five chainsaws.

Great book but…
I haven’t finished the book on audible but I know the book is just as good if not better then the movie but the guy reading this book his Scottish accent is to thick to clearly understand the book and is to much effort to keep up with and there is no other full version of this book in a clearer accent waste of a token waste of money.
