Good story but Narration wasn't great.

The gist of the story was quite enjoyable, however, there was a loss of continuity in the heroine. A timid and very uncertain girl suddenly becomes a explicitly sensual mistress in the turn of a day. Then less than a week later is telling centuries old soldiers how to do their jobs?
The overall start to finish journey was a good one, though the plot twists were obvious.
The main issue I believe is that the narrator made all of the characters sound somewhat cheesy and portrayed the voices as far too emotionally exuberant.
The hero of the story was well structured, and the supporting characters added to the story well.
Overall, this was an average read for me unfortunately.
