Publisher's Summary

Talvi Marinossian has slain maenads and fought off vampire attacks, but nothing has prepared him for getting involved with one of these forbidden "modern girls". When he finally tracks down Annika it's obvious that she's changed since her recent adventure in his homeland. It's also clear that she's not ready to embrace the next chapter in her life. He tries to persuade her to open up to him, but she finds it difficult since he won't even explain how he earns a living, why he has a secret cell phone, or the reason he keeps another woman's handkerchief in his pocket. Instead of relying on Talvi to help her adjust, Annika delves into her music and her job, and it isn't long before the new lovers find themselves completely out of sync with one another. Just when they start to find their rhythm, Talvi is called away on business and whisks Annika off to Paris for what is supposed to be a working vacation. But one bad decision leads to another, and the chaos that ensues may cost someone their life.

You'll enjoy this edgy and dark blend of new adult urban fantasy and paranormal romance if you're a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, Kresley Cole, Donna Grant, Charlaine Harris, Karen Marie Moning, Jeanine Frost, J.R. Ward and Lynsay Sands.

I liked this book even better than the first book. Be forewarned that it does end in a cliffhanger which will leave you scrambling to get the third book in the series. I've come to love the characters in this series and will hate when it ends.

    Story
"Makes you want to punch them but...."
What did you love best about The Silver Thread?

Hands down, the narration. It made all the moments I wanted to pull my hair and punch the characters all worth while

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silver Thread?

ANYTHING involving Stella (honestly, that kid rocks!)...Other than that it would have to be the scene where Annika asks Talvi to play the electric guitar during band practice and they finish the elusive song.

What does Nick Cracknell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is amazing. I'm currently reading the 3rd book which has no narration at the moment and I miss Nick. There are so many characters in this book and he is able to give them all life & seems to even bring their personalities out. He uses the same voice and accent for Talvi and Finn but somehow they are different enough that you can tell the brothers apart. I find myself attempting to use the same voices in my head while reading book 3...my head is not nearly as good at playing Nick as Nick is at playing the gazillion different characters. Also, I have no idea who Stella is or whose idea it was to add her but cheers for that (also thanks for adding in Annika singing!)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As before, definitely the part where Talvi joins band practice and they finish the song. I was also very fond of the "James blows up and goes nuclear" scene after the sugar and fire incident which leads to said nuclear blow up and ultimately fun times with pixie dust.

    Any additional comments?

Worth it if only for the narration!

    "Back to Reality"

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book picks up where the first book ended. Annika is depressed by being thrown back into the real world where no one believes her story. Talvi crosses worlds to find her. Very romantic gesture!

Annika's personality still drives me crazy but I had come to expect that with the first book. It's annoying that one moment she's all over Talvi and the next she's accusing him of being unfaithful...again.

But I really did enjoy this book. The voice acting is incredible. The story is great and kept my interest. I especially like the scene with "the song." The entire time in Paris was...interesting. Don't want to give anything away. And I liked that we get to see Talvi's family again and learn more about his background.

And it's another cliffhanger! I can't wait to read the third book to find out what happens.

    "More, please!"

I so love this story and love this series! Talvi is so sexy, and the narration is incredible. The adventures are entrancing, and I love the interspersed humor, too. Nick does such a great job with the different voices, and his delivery is perfect. The pacing of delivery is good too. I am looking forward to the next book and especially the audiobook. I get so much more from the story, especially with Nick's narration, than I get from reading it myself!

I received a copy of this audiobook free from the author. I voluntarily reviewed it, and this is my honest review.

What did you love best about The Silver Thread?

I Loved seeing how Talvi is growing up and how the relationship between Talvi and Annika is progressing

What about Nick Cracknell’s performance did you like?

Love his voice, love the variation in voices... It was great the change in the voice for parts only said in people's heads... it was like an echo effect, definitely told you these things were not being spoken out loud...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think that when Talvi couldn't 'perform' with Annika because she was still a brunette was sweet... he felt like he was cheating on his red headed wife!!!

    Any additional comments?

Loved this book, Love this Series!!!

    Story
    "Back to our world"

Annika and Talvi are finally reunited after having spent many months apart in different worlds. Both characters are having trouble learning what it means to be married and how to balance life together. Their connection is so strong that it seemed to me that it also pulled them in opposite directions, even when the goal was the same. They're also learning trust with each other because they didn't have that 100% before they wed. We're also back in our world so the relationship has a different dynamic because of it. Annika's family thought she was mad with the tales she gave when she returned home from Talvi's, but he wants to make everything better for her upon arrival.

I had way too many chuckles about two fairies living in a house together. One an actual fairy and the other using modern slang of the word.

I loved that even when things were serious for the characters, there was still an underlying lighthearted feel. The book was even able to explore addition and show only the fringes of how dangerous it can be.

The narration of this book is spectacular. It made me want to listen to it all in one go. I grumbled more than once when I had to be pulled away from the book to deal with life.

    Story
"A series above and beyond the expected"

Sometimes a series feels like it had the potential to be epic. The Annika Brisby series feels just like that.

Firstly, while it isn't necessary to have read or listened to the first book, I think reading the books in order helps. The first two books have ended with a link to the next story. This book has several references to events, etc in the previous book.

That said, while the first book had the flavour of Lord of the Rings (especially with its mixed band of characters going on a quest that ends with a battle), this book is more modern. Most of the story takes place in our world, where the technology and details are current and familiar to us. This story addresses the biggest issue that emerges from the first book, namely the rather quick marriage between young Annika and overly experienced Talvi. Taken out of the realm where fairies and nymphs roam and away from the challenges that feature heavily in the start of their relationship, Annika and Talvi find themselves married and unsure of what to do with their relationship. They struggle to be together in normal day to day existence, to learn and accept each other, and to face their rather daunting insecurities. Their union brought on numerous physiological changes to Annika that they also have to adjust to. But then no one said the first year of marriage would be easy.

Emigh Cannaday has written a fascinating story that has great potential as a series. Nick Cracknell's performance has a lyrical, story telling quality that works well with this genre.

Overall enjoyable. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

If you could sum up The Silver Thread in three words, what would they be?

    Wonderful, brilliant awesome.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the way the story is moving forward from the first book. It is completely different yet just as interesting. It still carries glimpses back so we can see what is going on at home while moving into Annica's world to show us where she comes from. It starts to explain a little about Talvi, the things that were hidden about his life and his character. We are seeing Annika's friends and family and they are fitting seamlessly into the story I like how funny everyone is even when not even trying, I smiled and laughed so much while listening. Talvi is even sexier if that is even possible.

Have you listened to any of Nick Cracknell’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I listened to the audio version of the flame and the arrow that he narrated before listening to this one. I really enjoyed it, but this second book had me deeply involved because the performance by Nick seemed to have developed as he had been reading the books. He was as involved in reading the story as I was in listening to it. This time he "lived" it and so I could as well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The relationship between Finn and Annica is a very emotional one that causes Finn to feel very guilty. He is such a beautiful selfless soul that feels things very deeply.and when he talks to Annika about his feelings it really makes me want to cry for him, for the love he feels and can never have.

    Any additional comments?

The book ends on a cliffhanger which I always hate lol. I hope the next audible version comes out soon.
