In her research of horsemen and women who have a gift with horses, Dr. Susan Fay outlines the invisible things these equestrians do that make their interactions with horses seem effortless. As a research scientist and life-long equestrian, Dr. Fay spent more than two decades searching for scientific explanations for why some people are able to develop seemingly spiritual relationships with horses.

Story
It was the evening of 16 May 1943. Nineteen modified Lancaster bombers from 617 Squadron RAF, under the command of youthful Wing Commander Guy Gibson, roared into the night sky from their Lincolnshire base. They were on a top-secret Bomber Command mission, codenamed Operation Chastise, now regarded as one of the most dangerous and audacious bombing raids of World War II - an attack on the formidable, well-defended dams of Germany’s Ruhr Valley. Slung beneath the belly of each aircraft was one of the war’s greatest secrets - a bouncing bomb.

Heartbreakingly beautiful
I would have preferred the narrator to have a deeper voice to add gravitas to the story but overall I thought he read very well and evocatively. The story is just wonderful. I had seen the film but enjoyed listening all the same - prepare for a different ending, which is fitting.

One of the best!
I read this book in the written form many years ago and loved it so much I kept it as one of my all time favourites.
Listening to it, didn’t diminish its value.
I became quite emotional in different places as it is sad story in many instances and if you are an animal lover it will touch your heart as well.
I could like all the characters except Dianne. She was unfulfilled by her life choices and was jealous of other people’s happiness,
