Publisher's Summary

The first time you meet someone, you make eye contact. You smile, say hello. Should be simple, if you're anyone but me.

The first time I met Dylan Reed, I found myself making eye contact with a different part of his body. You see, I'm very good at being shy, not to mention extremely well-versed in rambling nonsense and, unfortunately, rather highly skilled at making a fool of myself in front of a guy I'm attracted to. At the time, I knew nothing about him and thought none of what I said would matter since I'd never speak to him again. Turns out, I was very wrong.

He was the star wide receiver of the football team, one of the few players expected to make it into the NFL, and I ended up seeing him all over campus. I might have also propositioned him, run away from him, attacked him with a cooking utensil...and...uh, maybe I shouldn't tell you all of it. It's pretty normal stuff, things you'd expect...from me.

Eventually, the time came when I couldn't hide anymore - not that he'd have let me even if I tried. Before now, he never knew I was secretly watching him. Now that we see each other every day, he knows when I have a hard time looking away. It doesn't help that I'm not the most subtle person in the world either. He smiles at me and tells me he finds me fascinating because of my quirks. I can't even tell him that I think my heart beats differently whenever he's around.

He thinks we're going to be best friends. I think I have a big thing for him, and the more I get to know him, the more I don't care that I'm not allowed to be his friend, let alone fall for him. The thing is, that's exactly what I'm doing - what we're doing, I think. Falling. Hard.

Contains mature themes.

Kinda toxic?

I really like the concept of this story but Dylan’s character really frustrated me. He had such emotional immaturity with very little personal growth - like all ‘popular sports guys’, everything just worked out for him in the end without very little effort. I liked Zoe, but she seemed very submissive to Dylan which made me uncomfortable and lost the charm of their romance. Dylan portrays so many red flags that are hinted at in the other male characters, I was expecting some kind of twist in the end that just never happened.

Too long and drawn out

The story is quite good, but it drags on. I am bored with it and finding it difficult to finish.

Just ok

I love Ella Maise and have really enjoyed her other books, but this one missed the mark for me. The characters were a little vanilla and didn't develop much over the book, which meant I couldn't wait for the last few chapters to finish. The male narrator's attempt at a female voice was painful and the book would have benefitted from duet narration.

Nice story except for

Easy listening story however the male version of the female voices were horrible.
Hi voice was nice to listen to but his version of mother, daughter and girlfriend were hideous and hard to keep catch on with the story.

A sweet friends to lovers romance✨

Zoey and Dylan

Uhhh I loved this one so much!

I don't want to say too much behind why Zoey is the way she is or does what she does, because it is a big part of the suspense. Dylan however is a college football player trying to make it in the big leagues and is far from a ladies man.

Oh the epilouge ughhhh SO good, I LOVE nothing more then a book with an future details, love love love!!!!

This was a sweet friends to lovers romance and is worth going into blind! I listened to it on Audible and loved it, Alexander Cendese is an incredible narrator and has a boy next door vibe voice!

Good story.

I liked the story but I really couldn't get use to the Males version of a female voice... It was so distracting because he sounded like an annoying whinge.. I didn't mind when he was doing the male voice but the Female imitation sounded.. So wrong lol

Great story!

Loved the book but the male narrator was terrible! I could barely listen during his parts, the voices and accents were very hard to listen to.

Sports romance

The Hardest Fall by Ella Maise is a college sports romance.

Zoe and Dylan’s romance is rather sweet, and I think that’s mainly because of Zoe’s personality. It takes awhile for them to get together, but their roommates/friends to lovers romance has a nice progression throughout the story and the underlying attraction throughout the story comes across clearly.

There’s lots of secrets in this story as well.

The story is dual POV’s from both Zoe and Dylan.

There’s some scenes which could be triggering to readers.
