Publisher's Summary

A centuries-old curse, a mysterious amulet, and a young love reignite a vendetta that had died down long ago…When seventeen-year-old Samantha goes on a school-exchange trip to Scotland, she takes with her an old pendant that she found amongst her grandmother's belongings. As soon as she arrives at her host family's home, she is drawn into the country's tales and myths. Then she meets the dangerously attractive Scot Payton - a mysterious Highlander who soon conquers Sam's heart. Caught up in her feelings, she doesn't realize how much danger she's in. Payton's past holds a dark secret. A secret that has bound together both their families' fates for hundreds of years and is now also endangering Sam's life.

    "Intriguing and well written"
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book is good but I had to take some breaks during this because the accents were sooo thick. She did a great job with this book and bringing it to life. Ready for the next.

    Any additional comments?

    Good read.

"Maybe the book is good? Narration is AWFUL"

This narrators voice was the most grating thing I've ever heard. Super monotonous and shaky. I couldn't take it. I don't even know what this book is about-I couldn't turn my focus away from the TERRIBLE narration.

    "Great story, horrible narration"

The Scottish accent was butchered, and the words indiscernible. Read this one instead of listening.

    "Good story, but terrible performance."

The book had a good plot; however, I almost stopped listening because the nasal tone of the performers voice was grating! I will not listen to any book she reads!

"Need To Get The Next One"

Though there were a couple of instances where I felt the story was dragging, it turned out to be an exciting story line that definitely has me wanting to listen to the next one. I must say that I loved the narrator's voice!!

    Story
    "Angsty, Emo, Teen Drama"

Was this written by a seventeen year old? Or younger?
Through most of the book this was about 3 stars. It was full of the drama of a stuck up, self centered 17 year old girl in the throes of her first love. Of course her love is like no other. She loves him with all her heart and will forever! Then her heart is broken. No one ever felt such pain. This book is so trite and dramatic.
But then the end comes and it drops to 2 stars. I cannot believe the stupidity. I thought the girl was of average intelligence but at the end she is a complete idiot. I could barely stand to finish it and nothing could convince me to listen to the rest of the series.

As for the narrator. She did well. My only complaint was she was so accurate in portraying the whiney, emo girl perfectly. It was so annoying.
