Jackson "The Beast" Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick's New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fundraiser, Bianca can't refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother's medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum - money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract - and a stunning ring.
When I was nineteen years old, I was faced with a choice that changed my life. Keep the safety of what I already knew or risk losing everything with the young, hotheaded soldier who stole my heart. I chose the wrong man, and for seventeen years, I paid in tears, blood, and shattered dreams for that decision. Now, there’s a man in my house, holding a gun to my head on the order of my ex-husband—given from his prison cell. That hotheaded soldier I was too afraid to choose? He’s now a six-foot-three wall of muscle who works at the country’s most premier bodyguard agency. I’ve always wanted him, but now, I’ve never needed him more. It’s the call I’m terrified to make. I’m sure he still hates me… Even though I’ve never stopped loving him.
Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful. The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he'll let into his heart is his little girl. When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he's in trouble. She's gorgeous and sweet and everything he can't trust. Until she becomes the one thing he can't resist.
When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson. Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer. Boy, was I wrong.
Luke Pardini is many things: playboy, tabloid fodder, ridiculously attractive billionaire. He's the Prince Charming every woman dreams of. And he wants me to be his fake girlfriend. I don't want a relationship, even a make-believe one, but I do need the money. Writing isn't paying the bills, and I hardly have time for a second job, let alone a romance. But he's offering me a dream-come true. I'll get the fancy dresses, the formal dinners, the full Luke Pardini experience. I get to be Cinderella for a few weeks, then I'll trade in the shoes. No problem, right?

When you think about how easy it is to lose keys, phones, sunglasses and your dignity on social media, you might figure it'd be a cinch for me to ditch my V Card. You'd be wrong. At 25, I run a successful business, live in a fantastic apartment, and have fabulous friends to go out with any night of the week. And yet I'm still a card-carrying member of a club I don't want to belong to anymore. Good thing I know just the man for the deflowering job - my brother’s business partner and best friend.
Ten years ago, Brent Nichols let the love of his life slip through his fingers. It's his greatest regret, especially since she's all but disappeared. But when the gorgeous and captivating woman walks into his life unexpectedly, he's determined to win her back. Whatever it takes, he won't make the same mistake twice.
For six generations, the women of wine country have had a saying: don’t bang a Hunter man unless you want a bun in your oven. Yeah, well. I’ve got a saying too: no thanks. The last thing I need is baby makes three. My business is expanding, and the only thing I’m interested in getting knocked up is my bottom line. But then one night, Emma Haverford makes me an offer I can’t refuse - she backs away from the land I have my eye on in exchange for a favor...a big, fat, baby-making favor....
Vaughn West is at the height of his acting career. He's the it man of Hollywood - until the ultimate betrayal sends him into a downward spiral of alcohol-infused days, ending with a different woman in his bed every night. His only way out of the funk is accepting a new movie deal with the hottest director in Hollywood. Charlotte Michaels is a designer-brands girl on a thrift-store budget until she lands the mother of all jobs as Vaughn West's wardrobe assistant on his latest movie. Only their first meeting doesn't go as planned, and now, Vaughn is acting like a jerk.
He’s my best friend’s older brother, off limits and incredibly tempting. I shouldn’t peak into Brendon’s sketchbook, even if the tattoo artist is as brooding and stoic as the day is long. I can’t help myself. I peel it open, run my fingers along the paper, soak up every ounce of him. His drawings are as beautiful and bold as his dark eyes and his cocky smile. Only, there, on the third page--that’s no tattoo mockup. That’s me. Naked. Ready. Waiting in his bed.
As an adult woman - and the vice president of a marketing firm - I shouldn't be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he's a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can't bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend-slash-colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he's borderline obsessive about "getting me laid". (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it's clear: The one I'm falling for is Vince.
My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards. We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction. I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me. We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number. I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn't dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home. I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems. Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?
I'd dated his brother. He didn't remember, and I wish I could forget. I may have sworn off the Wright family a long time ago. But when I returned home, Jensen Wright crashed into my life with the confidence of a billionaire CEO and the sex appeal of a god. Even I couldn't resist our charged chemistry or the way he fit into my life like a missing puzzle piece. Too bad he'd forgotten the one thing that could destroy us. Because Jensen Wright doesn't share.
Violet Valentine has had enough of tattooed bad boys for one lifetime. Sure, nice guys don't set her on fire the way her ex Ethan did. They don't have his piercing blue eyes, or his bright smile, or his skilled hands. They don't serenade her with her favorite songs. Or make her laugh until her sides ache. Or make her feel so good she could die. None of that matters. Ethan isn't breaking her heart again. No one is.
Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can't seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed - and then coughed on - her at a party the night before.
When I’m offered the chance to leave New York to live in London for three months, I can’t pack my suitcase fast enough. As soon as I touch down, I’m obsessing over red telephone boxes, palaces, and all the black cabs. But my favorite place is the tube. It’s wall-to-wall hot British men in suits.
Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville - at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade ring in my ears every time a towns-person brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again. Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons - sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer.
A sexy romantic comedy standalone in the Modern Love series.
Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?
Was the one night stand a good idea?
Well, no. Probably not in retrospect.
In my defense, I had just moved back into my grandparents' house, I'd lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped 'loser' on my forehead.
So when the guy behind the bar started giving me the look...you know, the one that promised I'd be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he'd earned in the sack...when he gives you that look, you don't bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!
Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate, by the way.
I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I'd figured out who the bartender was, I was already falling for him.
I read each of the books in the Modern Love series on the day that they were each released.
This one is probably my favorite because we meet these 3 girlfriends who are each in search of a unicorn cock! Whitney and Cole's story is sexy, sweet, asking and it just sizzles!
This was the first time I listened to Molly Mermelstein. She's amazing. I loved all of her characters that she portrays and look forward to more of her performances!
Highly recommend this first audio book for the Modern Love series. It's so worth it! Piper Rayne takes you to San Francisco and this author certainly depicted the city perfectly and I ought to know since I live here!

I have reread the ebook version of this book countless times and absolutely love it each and every time. This audio version brings the emotions, from laughter to angst to joy so well. I love Whit and Cole and how their story of hate to love shows that anything is possible when it comes to the heart. The fullness of the story is there and so is the serious hotness!
As to the performance, I only have two things that struck me as a critique. First, there were several occasions where a new part of the narrative or dialogue was missing the beginning of the word. For example, when she says, "Whitney," all I heard was, "itney." This may have been a technical issue, like the recording had a lag. Second, there were times where I could obviously hear the narrator's puffs of breath as though she was leaning too close to the mic. In my head, it felt like I felt the puffs of air hitting my ears. Those two things did not take away from the story for me. One huge thing I loved about the performance was that she captured the different characters well. I could tell the difference between the dialogues of Whit, Talia, and Lennon. This is not always my experience with audiobooks. It made my experience of listening to The Bartender more enjoyable.
I have high hopes for more audio versions of Piper Rayne's books! This was so much fun and Piper Rayne rocks!

Hold on to your seats, just the right amount of dads, angst, drama, friendship, stupidity, and of course nookie, looking forward to more of this these girls !
l really loved the story line and the characters. The narrator nailed it like a pro
The Bartender is such a great read & part of such a great series & to get to listen to it in audible was absolutely awesome!! I loved every second of it!!
Cole and Whit are a great couple...eventually. Whit hates Cole before she even knows who he is. Cole’s brother is getting married to one of Whitney’s best friends and the two of them have to help the bride and groom with plans. Great story and great characters... especially Lennon.
I have read The Bartender but I really enjoy the audio book! Molly Mermelstein really brought the characters to life. I didn't mind that she didn't try a male voice for Cole since if it isn't done well, it detracts from the listening. Cole and Whitney are great together. I think Cole is definitely a "unicorn". Piper Rayne is a wonderful author and brings humor along with drama in the story. I'm certainly hoping the rest of Piper Rayne's books are made into audio. I received a free copy in exchange for my review.
I loved the audio version of this book, Molly did such a fantastic job narrating it! It really gave me a completely different perspective on things.
It's such a fun and sweet story. Listening to it just reminded me how much of a doll Cole is- I just adore him! I had a few little issues with Whitney, but girl got her act together there at the end.
While there was a little push and pull between Cole and Whitney, mostly on her part, this is a light, easy read that will make you smile.
Reading over my review from when I first read the book, one of my thoughts was that I wanted more Cole and Whitney at the end, and after listening to it I still kind of feel that way. The epilogue was cute and did a great job of building towards the next book.
I had already read and reviewed this book, but the audio version was way more enjoyable.
I love the Bartender,I actually have all of the books in the Modern Love series. If you haven’t read them you need to. The Audiobook was just a great bonus, it made the story come to life even more and I really enjoyed listening to it. The narrator at first was a little stiff for me but I warmed up to her. I would definitely recommend this audiobook. I hope the rest of Piper Ryane books become Audiobooks. I am voluntarily leaving my review after listening to this arc Audiobook.
