The second book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling Texas romance author Jean Brashear's TEXAS HEROES: The Gallaghers of Morning Star series—stories rich with emotion, ripe with secrets, scandals and sexual tension.

Too ill to travel further with a winter storm on the way, she has no choice but to gamble her child's safety on a man who wants only to be left alone.
But during days spent together in the mountain cabin, Mitch and Perrie each find surprises in store...and all the reasons they should stay apart battle with the yearnings of hearts too long denied love.

To hero or not to hero? Between the writing talents of Jean Brashear and the vocal stylings of Eric G. Dove, it's really not that hard of a choice. The loner vs. the lioness is the battle that wages between the pages of Texas Lonely. Nothing is as it seems. The secrets are haunting, the romance is epic and the story is heartbreaking. A hero is someone who knows the risks, but steps into the fire. Perrie and Mitch are the personification of heroism, as well as the greatest of example of love's staying power. Team Hero, here I come.
Would you listen to Texas Lonely again? Why?
I definitely plan to listen to Texas Lonely again. I enjoyed the emotional wordplay between Perrie and Mitch, and the sexual tension added hype.
What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?
Mr. Dove has a pleasant, mellow voice that lends itself to all characters and situations.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A journey of three souls from a lifetime of pain to a future of love
I felt badly for both Mitch and Perrie. The experiences they had, the pain, the fear, and uncertainty they felt was very well written. As they both started to open up, the narrator easily conveyed the writer's descriptions of their hesitation, their leap of faith, and resulting happiness. The love and care for Davey was felt felt from the very beginning.
This was a well written, fast-paced story that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Really good narration allows you to accept each character's personality. Eric Dove seamlessly carries you through the story until there is somewhat of a resolution to Mitch's family issues and an HEA all around.
I liked the first book Texas Secrets, but I enjoyed this book more.
If you could sum up Texas Lonely in three words, what would they be?
Mitch rescued a woman who turned out to be the granddaughter of his deceased friend. He quickly fell in love.....with her son. He totally disliked her because he thought she was selfish and had no time for her grandfather, leaving him to die alone. It turns out he was wrong.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Texas Lonely?
When Davey was trapped on the ledge. That was scary.
Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?
Davey was my favorite character. Eric Dove does a great job when he is reading the children's part.

I loved this book. This is the third time I've read it but I also listened to the Audible version this time. Little Davey was adorable and I really wanted to find out what happened with the story Perrie was telling her son. This was a story about two people who made bad decisions in their past. But they found each other and forgave themselves so they could move on with their lives. Eric Dove does a wonderful job of reading. He brings the characters to life and made this book even more enjoyable. I'm quickly becoming hooked to Audible books.
Mitch closed off his heart and his life when his father kicked him out years ago. Living in the wilderness suites him. Perrie is running to her grandfather's cabin, unaware of the events that transpired. Mitch assumes he know the type of person Perrie is and neither want to open up to one another. Davey is adorable and brings their story together. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Jean Brashear wrote an excellent book. I originally read it back in 2014. Itvwas just as good then as it is now! It was well written with a great storyline. I was moved to tears a couple times. I completely fell in love with Mitch, Perrie, and Davey. I look forward to continuing the series!
Eric Dove brought this book to life. Excellent narrating with his deep voice and moving tone. I completely enjoy listening to his performances!

I very much enjoyed listening to Book 2 in the Texas Heroes Series by Jean Brashear. I was pulled into the story from the start. Main characters, Mitch, Perrie, and Davey are very much brought to life by excellent writing. Little Davey sure pulls on your "heartstrings". He is so very protective of his Mother, Perrie. Mitch, is a gentle "giant" in comparison to Davey or his Mother. Both Perrie and Mitch are "lonely" but very wary of one another. She is on the run fro her ex-husband. Mitch has been banished from his hometown and has become very much a "loner". There is so much emotion in this story, I recommend this audible to any and all romance readers. Eric G. Dove is an excellent narrator.
Jean Brashear did a great job with this book. Two wounded souls that help each other to find peace and happiness. The main characters find solace with each other. This book takes you through many emotions, that in the end you get an HEA.
Eric G. Dove was fantastic as he narrated, he is one of my favorites.
Mitch and Perrie’s story is so emotional. Mitch has been living alone after being kicked out of his home at age 16 and Perrie is on the run with her young son. They meet on a remote mountain side while Perrie is looking for her grandfather’s cabin, which happens to be where Mitch lives. Trust isn’t something that comes easy to either of them, so Perrie being ill and then storm stayed together makes things difficult. Their story is full of insecurities as they both deal with their past and refuse to share their feelings & fears with each other. Davey, Perrie’s son, is absolutely adorable and you can’t help but fall in love with him right from the beginning, even the gruff mountain man can’t resist him. I really enjoyed this story, though at times I did want to shake both Mitch and Perrie and tell them to just give into their feelings. Lol. Jean Brashear has a talent for bringing out many emotions in her books….the sign of a great author for sure. Eric Dove is definitely one of my favorite narrators. He always brings the story to life with his amazing variety of voices.
