Mattie Carver's engagement party should have marked the start of her own personal fairy tale. But when her fiancé, Ben, is violently abducted the next morning, her desperate quest to find him rips her away from small-town life and reveals a shattering truth: magic is real - and Ben is hooked. It's not the stuff of storybooks. It's wildly addictive, capable of producing everything from hellish anguish to sensual ecstasy almost beyond human endurance.
Determined to find out who took Ben and why, Mattie immerses herself in a shadowy underworld and comes face-to-face with the darkly alluring Asa Ward, a rogue magic dealer, infamous hustler...and her missing fiancé's estranged brother. Asa has the power to sense magic, and he realizes Mattie is a reliquary, someone with the rare ability to carry magic within her own body, undetected. Asa agrees to help find Ben on one condition: Mattie must use her uncommon talent to assist his smuggling operations. Now, from magic-laced Vegas casinos to the netherworld clubs of Bangkok, Mattie is on a rescue mission. With Asa by her side, she'll face not only the supernatural forces arrayed against her but the all-too-human temptation that she fears she can't resist.
Reliquary is a fast paced suspenseful story that captivates you and blows your mind away. Sarah Fine brilliant storytelling takes you on a fast and dizzying ride of your life, It's addictive and totally riveting, I can't wait for the next instalment. The narrative is excellent and filled with so much raw emotion that takes my breath away. X
Interesting story, but the narrator's voice tone and inflection? Grated on the nerves at times.
I was surprised at just how great it was. I was surprised at how erotic it was, too.
This girl is literally the most helpless main character ever. She complains about everything, makes terrible decisions, is only focused on how sexy the men in the story are, and only relies on whatever the men tell her to do, and not in a sexy dominance sort of way, just cringe worthy. The “sex scenes” aren’t even sexy so I wouldn’t call this a romance or a fantasy. Just boring.
I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I purchased this book. I had eyed it for a while and finally took the plunge. I couldn't stop listening to this story!! The way it evolved and you got to see the characters grow and changed. There are so many love hate relationships in this! Alot of actions, sexual scenes with no sex for the sake of transferring the magic. It is intense! I wish I would have gotten this book sooner! And the rest of the series gets even better!! I love this author and the amazing worlds she creates! This is the 2nd series by her I have fallen head over heels for! Definitely a must read in my mind! Just get it! you wont regret it!
This book was recommended to me by Amazon. I was very pleasantly surprised by how great it was. I'm eager to start the next book!
Have you ever loved a book so much you didn't want to ruin it for anyone by talking about it? No? Well... maybe you should get this book and experience how that feels.
The end was not cookie cutter very nice left me wanting more. Need twenty words.
I greatly enjoyed Sarah Fine's Shadowland series. However, this main character just simply flailed about with no real character development. I didn't understand they dynamic the author was trying to set up.
The plot was decent. I enjoyed the concept of a magical underworld and it's various players. But I'm not compelled to read more in this series.
Also, the author wasn't bad, but her male voices were all the same. I don't think she infused the right amount of "danger" into the male lead.
I ended up liking the book, but it started off pretty badly and I almost gave up. I didn't care about any of the characters until Asa came into the picture. The main character is a bit of a dummy, and she sticks with her fiance even though he lies to her and manipulates her. I just wanted to smack her, and it continues into the next book. However, Asa makes up for the other characters, and I'm now awaiting the third book to be released. Both books follow Mattie and Asa as they try to pull off dangerous transactions in the magical world with a range of other people out to get them. They build a relationship as they learn to trust each other.

Ok so I like a steamy novel but often get tired of the predictable characters and situations. The steam is there but it is a slow burn at first. Loved it!
Excellent story, had me gripped right from the start. I can't wait for book two, when I hope Mattie and Acer will reunite.

At last a new fantasy series for the older than YA crowd! This series a great find and an action fueled adventure romp. The characters are interesting and the story moves along at a good clip. The reader does a good job of bringing the story to life, unfortunately she has pretty much only one "male" voice which she uses for all the characters and it sounds like an aged grandma with a 40 a day habit. This is obviously not ideal for romantic heroes etc, but if you can get past it the story is fun.
Wondered how the 2nd book could be even nearly as great as the 1st but I shouldn't have worried it was awesome and not as predictable as I thought it might have been
The narrator really hooked me in and kept me relating pressing the stop button!!
Awesome story line completely gripping, I couldn't put it down. The characters are brilliant and the story in general has a perfect pace. Can't recommend it enough.
