Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes the first book in a new sexy duet.

How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:

Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.

Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.

How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:

Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony-looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.

Check. Check. Check.

I should add - especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed god of a boss.

Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.

Especially when he’s mean to you.

Or so I thought.

Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.

That was sort of how it all started with Rush.

And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.

I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.

I wasn't supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.

As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting - and complicated.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

Cheeky banter!

I love the cheeked banter between the two characters in this book. I was sucked in at chapter 1. The good natured/flirty teasing remarks between the two was very believable and at times even made me laugh out loud. This was a very ‘sexy’ novel that had me pre purchasing the writers others novels between chapter!

Grumpy heir falls for the girl

This was an enjoyable, if somewhat angsty, read. Gia is low on funds after spending most of the advance she received for a book she's writing on her summer rental and other expenses. After covering for a friend at a bar one night, she places herself in crosshairs of its grumpy but crazy hot owner, Rush. While he's not interested in dating an employee, they can't deny the attraction they feel for each other and both start falling hard. Rush isn't your typical heir as he wasn't raised with money and is disliked by prominent members of his much wealthier family. After deciding he's all in, Rush and Gia take a chance on each other.

* Spoiler below *

While I enjoyed the romance in this book, it was definitely an angsty read with the character falling into predictable, well-worn patterns. Rush was the bad boy (apparently - he was gruff, but sweet and thoughtful) with money to burn. I found Gia pretty whiney at times and prone to mini episodes that came close to hissy fits. I will warn listeners that there's a surprise baby in the book and that it's not Rush's. While I don't like revealing a major plot line, I will here because I wish I'd known as it's a trope I would normally avoid and it might tick some listeners off. The book also ends on a cliffhanger.

The narration was mostly great. I found the male vocals a bit monotonous at times (but still good) but Maxine Mitchell was 5/5 as her portrayal of Rush was dynamite. This book kept me entertained throughout and I'll probably read the next book if I get in the mood for more over the top angst and drama.

Absolutely obsessed with this drama!

My second audiobook I have listened in my life (first one “we shouldn’t” where I fall in love with Sebastian York’s voice!)
The drama of this story made me stay awake to 5:50am. I just couldn’t stop listening!
Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Great story

I loved the twists in this story which set it apart from the typical guess what’s coming next.

The only bit that was a bit weird was the male voice from the female narrator but other than that both narrators were great.

Just downloaded the second book to hear what happens next.
