Enjoyable and compellingjourney into another life

Where does Meine geniale Freundin (Die Neapolitanische Saga 1) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Being new to the world of audiobooks, to listen to the captivating "Meine geniale Freundin" was a phenomenal start. Finishing it left a kind of empty space which made me download a new audiobook instantly to fill it.

What other book might you compare Meine geniale Freundin (Die Neapolitanische Saga 1) to, and why?

However, although I have already indulged in the new listening experience, I know it will be hard to find a book that will draw you as utterly and completely into the world Elena Ferrante creates for you with her writing. Her detailed description - not only of the thoughts and perception of the world of her two main characters - but also of the harsh world of an Italian suburb and its people in the 50ies and 60ies is too compelling.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Ferrante takes you on a journey into a different, difficult life in a different country and culture and lets you take part in the development of two young girls who are equally gifted, however have to take other directions, but will always stay connected. The way she writes and the way German actress Eva Mattes narrates it, is simply so intriguing that you will use almost every spare second to listen.

Any additional comments?

The good news is: Ferrante wrote a saga. So more books are coming out and hopefully they will be available as audiobooks asap.
