She isn’t looking for love. He’s mending a broken heart. It will take divine intervention for these two to get together.
Local Amish schoolteacher Lilly Lapp is tired of weddings, afraid of horses, and immersed in caring for her depressed mother. But when Jacob Wyse, a handsome horse breeder from her small community rescues her from a dangerous accident, Lilly discovers a renewed interest in life and the possibility of love. Yet Jacob has lost the one true love of his life to another man and doesn’t care to expose himself to the vulnerabilities of loving again.
God works to bring this unlikely pair into a sweet romance to produce a pattern of faith, which leads to the creation and comfort of Lilly’s wedding quilt.
Kelly is in the Colonial American Christian Writers group and I am so looking forward to her colonial Amish books when they release. In the meantime, I listened to this as my first "read" of her work. She knocked my socks off (well if it weren't summer she would have!) Beautiful voice, gripping story line, great characterization, and the best romantic tension I have seen since Deanne Gist. Not your average Amish novel! I highly recommend this book and this writer and just downloaded another of her audible.com books. I saw she has a novella with several other authors, including Cindy Woodsmall. I do wonder why when I searched "Amish" this book did not pull up.
I think I have found another favorite author! Looking forward to listening to her next book and many more after that one!

So very enjoyable a listen. I enjoy sewing while the story unwinds. Not as detailed as some of the others by this author, but soulful.

I have read many, many Amish books and if you are looking for true Amish fiction don't waste your money. This is modern fiction under the gize of Amish fiction. Very disappointed.
What made the experience of listening to Lilly’s Wedding Quilt the most enjoyable?
No doubt, the narrator Christine Williams made this one of my favorite audiobooks. Her voice is so soothing and she captures all emotions perfectly without over-dramatizing it. Lily is a simple teacher who gets caught up in a loveless marriage through a fluke and is now committed to a man who loves another. But Jakob has integrity and gives their marriage time to enter into a different phase as they get to know each other and learn love. They treat each other with respect, and each conflict is resolved with love and understanding, that it's clear they love each other, but they don't seem to know it.Beautifully told story. Well worth it!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jakob was my favorite. He was so conflicted, but he handled so much of his topsy-turvy life with dignity.
What about Christine Williams’s performance did you like?
Christine is now my favorite narrator by far. I could listen to her read the dictionary and thoroughly enjoy it! Soothing, so very well read. I don't think any other narrator could read this or anything else as well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Well, I nearly did. I stayed up until 2am listening and anywhere I went in the car, my iPod went with me to listen while I drove.
This is a very good book. Kelly Long certainly has a way with words and is a great story teller! A wonderful Amish love story with very strong characters and thoroughly enjoyable. I was almost sad it ended because I wanted to know more of Jacob and Lily's story. Quilters will enjoy this book as will readers of Amish books.
What makes this book even better is the performance by Christine Williams. Her voice is fantastic and she has a wonderful ability to give each character his or her own distinct voice.
