Publisher's Summary

A secret history. A long-ago summer. A house with an untold story....

The spellbinding mystery from the Sunday Times best-selling Richard and Judy Pick author of The Glass House.

The hours pass differently at Black Rabbit Hall.

For the four Alton children, it's the perfect summer escape where not much ever happens - until one stormy evening, something does and their idyllic world is shattered.

Decades later, Lorna is drawn to a beautiful yet crumbling old house she hazily remembers from childhood - feels a bond she does not understand.

But a disturbing message left by one of the Alton children tells her that Black Rabbit Hall's history is as dark and tangled as its woods.

And much like her own past, it must be brought into the light....

A spellbinding story of two women, separated by decades, but inextricably linked by their connection to the beautiful and mysterious Black Rabbit Hall.

The twins relationship

I really enjoyed the description of the house and the way the family evolved around it

Beautiful

This was fascinating. I loved it, though at one stage I thought, I’m not sure. It’s a bit Kate Morton, Daphne Du Maurier and even a bit Flowers In The Attic. There’s some exquisite writing. And though it’s not always a case of the author choosing the best plot development, it’s beautiful and comes together well. Wonderful.

Drawn out

I like the story idea, however found it incredible drawn out. I guess if I’d been reading it I could have skim read through the slower bits, but alas when it’s an audio book you have to just listen while the author slowly gets to their point.

Beautifully written

Absolutely loved every minute of this book. The past and the present were woven together beautifully, the characters stories a combination of intrigue and heartache. I was hooked from the very beginning, and can’t wait to read more of the authors work.

AN OLD HOUSE WITH A SECRET....

This is a great book! I enjoyed every minute - it has a dual storyline one present day and one past centering around a dilapidated old house, Black Rabbit Hall. There is tradgedy, romance, family secrets and more. Highly recommended for holiday reading!

Different

Not my cup of tea. However if you enjoy this type of storyline this may be a book for you. Narrator does a wonderful job and the story is quite good. It's just not my usual gender and a pole apart from crime.

Truly awful.

The plot is thin & unsophisticated. The characters are all two-dimensional (a wicked stepmother - really?).
