Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The hilarious number one best seller by comedian and author of Because of You and According to Yes, Dawn French.

Everyone hates the perfect family - so you'll love the Battles.

Meet Mo Battle, about to turn 50 and mum to two helpless, hormonal teenagers. There's 17-year-old daughter Dora who blames Mo for, like, EVERYTHING and Peter who believes he's quite simply as darling and marvellous as his hero Oscar Wilde. Somewhere, keeping quiet, is Dad, who's just, well...Dad.

However, Mo is having a crisis. She's about to do something unusually wild and selfish, which will leave the entire family teetering on the edge of a precipice.

Will the family fall?

Or will they, when it really matters, be there for each other?

A Tiny Bit Marvellous is the number one best-selling novel from one of Britain's favourite comic writers.

Like so good and stuff

I loved this book. So heartwarming and genuine. Particularly loved Dawn French channeling Anne Chancellor as Caroline Bingley for Oscar. I enjoyed the flawed nature of all of the characters. Well written.

Very entertaining. Definitely one to listen to!

I really enjoyed that Dawn French was the one to narrate this book. It made the stories' quirks come alive and was very engaging.
The story itself can get a bit confusing if your not concentrating or if you stop and start in between chapters as it is a diary entry style book of at least 3 characters perspectives but as long as you follow the changes in French's voice you should be ok.
I'm looking forward to listening to her other title.

A Tiny Bit Plotless

Dawn French's reading, acting skills are the saving grace of this book. The Battle family is dysfunctional - yes, we understand that early on. The kids are amusing.... yes.... but what's the actual plot? It eluded me for about 3/4 of the book & I'm still not entirely sure there was one or if Dawn was just making it up as she went along. However there's no denying of her acting & comedic skills - if it wasn't for that, I probably would've stopped listening ages ago.

A 5 star.

Loved it, one of my favourite writers. Down to earth and so like the lives of real people.

Entertaining and witty story

Funny and charismatic journey of self discovery of a family and their dog named Pooh.
Dawn brings the characters alive with her animated narration of this story. I was laughing and crying and laughing again throughout this story. A enjoy read (listen).

Unhappy With Noel

LOVED the story and who else could have narrated so well? I related to all the characters but felt the Noel/X Man was too contrived. unlikely and spoilt the story a bit for me.

A Tall Story

A hilarious, insightful, witty, true to life tale of family. I loved the first person accounts each chapter belonging to each family member.

Relatable mother daughter relationship

Dawn bought the characters to life with her narration. Really enjoyed this book. Love anything Dawn does to be honest.

Stop complaining

What would have made A Tiny Bit Marvellous better?

Less swearing, complaining and something useful in the conversation topics.

What was most disappointing about Dawn French’s story?

It just didn't go anywhere, it wasn't funny except for a few thoughts here and there, and it was full of swearing.

Which character – as performed by Dawn French – was your favourite?

None.

What character would you cut from A Tiny Bit Marvellous?

Can I say all of them - it probably would have been a better story.

Any additional comments?

I don't know about you, but I don't really enjoy hearing people complain all the time. This book seems to be about a couple of self obsessed people who just complain, moan and groan...and swear an awful lot about, well, nothing much at all.
