About this listen

After more than two decades together, Andrew Lane and Miles Kettering-Lane are going through a nasty divorce. Not only are they unraveling their relationship but also their business—Miles once had a popular home show on cable with Andrew serving as his producer/manager—the failure of which they blame on each other. Now, they'd be happy to never, ever see each other again. But the daughter they both adore, Kelly, announces she's getting married, and that means one very important thing: a wedding.

Thrown together, at event after event—meeting the in-laws, planning the wedding, throwing an elaborate engagement party—the two clash over everything until, their future in-laws, Bradley and Pudge Lincoln and Terry and Lissa Collins, try to take over the entire wedding. The Lincoln-Collinses' are very wealthy, to quote Pudge, "People think we're in the one percent but that's so embarrassing. We're barely in the two percent!

Andrew and Miles realize they have to work together in order to compete with the overbearing Lincoln-Collinses' and give their daughter the wedding she deserves. Along the way, they realize things just might not be over between them.

Married for over twenty years, producer and agent Andrew Lane and TV media personality Miles Kettering-Lane have been going through divorce proceedings for the last two years—it’s lawyers at ten paces. But they’ll need to work together because their daughter, Kelly, is getting married and the uber-rich future in-laws want to take over every aspect of the wedding. Kelly wants things simple, environmentally friendly, and restrained but no one else seems to want that. To keep the peace, Kelly suggests the in-laws coordinate the engagement party, while her dads organise the wedding and thus the competition to outdo each other begins. Having to work together reminds Andrew and Miles of the good things they loved about each other.

This was a wonderfully farcical no-heat wedding romance! Imagine the Nathan Lane character in The Birdcage and you’ve got Miles to a tee—there’s screaming, histrionics, and an amusing waspishness. Andrew is the calmer, more organised Robin Williams character—a Mister Fixit. There are plenty of other entertaining characters like Raj, Andrew’s young self-obsessed media-influencer boyfriend, who inserts himself into every situation. The in-laws are incredibly entitled conservatives who step on everybody’s toes. In fact, Kelly and her patient fiancé, Avery, are really the only voices of reason. Definitely worth a giggle! 🎧 Dana P Rowe outdoes himself on the audio, he’s perfect for the arch Miles, the steady Andrew, and all the other zany characters!!

Absurdly entertaining!
