Excellent romantic thriller
This was an excellent police procedural mystery of murders. It has lots of personal elements that show the great feelings & emotional attachment that the characters have for each other. Some hot sex makes it an overall great book. Very good narration by Ms Kaminsky.

Fun story, careless lazy writing
While I enjoy the characters and story line of this series, I find it irritating how often she uses some of the same phrases over and over again and also that she rehashes parts of previous books in the series unnecessarily.

Sam is not Submissive
This is the 6th book in Marie Force's Fatal Series about "Sam" Samantha Holland, police lieutenant in Washing DC. In the first 5 books, Sam was a strong, fearless, gutsy woman who lives to catch killers. She gets shot, punched, blown-up, & knocked down, gets sown up and/or stabled and keeps working.
Sam meets and marries Nick, a Democratic senator who appreciates her determination, strength, intelligence and loyalty. Together they are adopting a 12 year old boy and trying to have a baby, while juggling two professional careers. They have an enthusiastic and creative sex life, which suddenly and unbelievably becomes D/S.
No where in the Sam's character (carefully developed in the first 5 books) does Sam display any desire to be submissive - it's laughable that she would allow any man to hit her. No where in those same 5 books does Nick express any desire to hit & dominate woman.
Evidently every book written now must include some dominant/submissive sex, regardless of how out of character that abusive behavior is. Marie Force, please keep Sam as the strong, interesting female character who doesn't take crap from anyone.

Great story mediocre performance
Why is this reader changing character's names. Gramm for Graham and Parsons for Patterson, Ellen for Elin? She did pretty good on Southern accents at least not too uneducated sounding but Gonzo's accent was like a Brooklyn thug not someone who’s folks live in West Virginia. Love the dynamic with Sam and Nick and their son Scotty. Always want more. Have read the entire series but it's nice to listen to them for a and hear their story a second time.

Narrator please!?
Maybe I should ask the author, but what is the proper pronunciation of Nick's name? Got so used to one way with Ms Munroe and then Ms Kaminsky does it different. From book to book in a series the names should be and sound the same. The books are fantastic otherwise!!!

Another good story
Baseball. Politics. Police procedural. All my favorite things! I liked this book and the series is my new favorite. I'm binge listening. The story was good even though some of the political details may be a bit off. ("...looking forward to the next seven years" even though a Senator's term is six years. ) There was another error and I'm not sure if it was the narrator's mistake or the author's - someone being released on their own "reconnaissance" instead of "recognizance." Little things that bug me. And I love the baseball angle even though memories of Bill Buckner still haunt me.
I still think Nick is too good to be true. But he sure is nice. And their sex is getting a bit too over the top for me. I don't see a reason the author has to add this to an already good book.
And thank you for a narrator who portrays Agent Hill with a great accent.
