A brutal home invasion. Two small, traumatized survivors who may have witnessed the horror. Lieutenant Sam Holland has never worked a case quite like this one, in which her eyewitnesses are five-year-old twins. Publisher's Summary
First the calm. Then the storm....
Escaping DC during the dog days of summer is one of the smartest moves Washington Metro Police Lieutenant Samantha Holland ever made. Beach walks aren't quite as romantic with the Secret Service in tow, but Sam and her husband, Vice President Nick Cappuano, cherish the chance to recharge and reconnect - especially with a scandal swirling around the administration.
No sooner are they back home than a fatal drive-by shooting sets the city on edge. The teenage victim is barely older than Sam and Nick's son, Scotty. As more deaths follow, Sam and her team play beat the clock to stop the ruthless killers. With Nick facing his greatest challenge - one that could drastically change all their lives and even end Sam's career - will the mounting pressure deepen or damage their bond?

I can't get enough of Sam an Nick
Twelve books in and I am still just as in love with the brilliant world Marie Force has created in her Fatal Series. Marie has an uncanny ability to intricately weave multiple story lines across the entire series. I love each and every character that is introduced, how I am able to follow their twists and turns to their personal stories, as I learn more about the main characters Sam and Nick. The best part is when tidbits are thrown in for possibilities of future plots to come.
As much as I love Sam and Nick, I am just as in love with the minor characters as well. With Freddie's bachelor party in the midst, I just about died with the way Sam stepped up to be the best man/woman for Freddy. She sure knows how to keep her partner on her toes.
Somehow Marie can tell a story where homicides occur, crimes are solved victims are real and incredible stories still continue to grow and develop among the amazingly memorable characters in this series. There is a perfect mixture of love, laughter, heartache and chemistry that will make your toes curl. Keep up the amazing work Marie. I can't wait for more of Sam and Nick in the future!

Hope this series never ends!
What did you love best about Fatal Chaos?
This is a great continuation of the "Fatal" series. I love how Marie Force combines the challenges of Nick and Sam's careers, but they are still there for each other. The "case" that Sam has to deal with was distressing to listen to - so many unnecessary deaths. But at least it was good to get away from the more recent political challenged cases. Nick's situation was enough to deal with!
Have you listened to any of Eva Kaminsky’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Always love Eva Kaminsky. The only thing I wish she would do is pronounce Elin's name correctly. She says it as if the name was Ellen - not with a "long" E and then Lin....

Great suspense, that’s romantic & humorous
Terrific narration by Ms Kaminsky & writing by Ms Force. Such a great police & political drama, with lots of great & real details. This one was quite funny at times dispute the very serious police scenarios, wasn’t as sexy as the others were, Hope the next one goes back the way the others were, still a very worthwhile listen.

Least Favourite Of The Series
I have been a huge fan of the entire FATAL series, with a few books better than others, but this book was only just OK and the author can thank Eva Kaminsky for that. Perhaps I'm just bored with the constant reminders of just how much Sam loves Nick and vice versa. And don't forget how much Sam loves Skippy and Celia, Gonzo, and Freddy, Avery and Shelby, and...and...and. . .
I've always loved serials which came from a place of deep love, where the family stands steadfastly behind the protagonist, where there is positive energy which surrounds the main couple. But this story was so repetitive, it borderline on filler. With reduction of the mutual admiration society's constant remarks of just how much they loved each other, it would have been a considerately shorter read, and more powerful.
It pains me to write this. The quality wasn't there. Many of the conversations were banal, leaving me wondering why they were talking at all. Again, filler came to mind. I feel that this book beats the dead horse too many times.
I also found the ending really unbelievable even for fiction.
Eva Kaminsky was outstanding with the delivery of the story and the reason I finished the book

Non stop!
Phew!
As usual, there's all kinds of excitement going on in Sam and Nick's personal and professional lives--400+ pages of high-drama, high-intensity excitement. It hardly feels like it's that long, though, because with all that's going on--along with some very sweet and sexy times between Sam and Nick, and some touching ones with Scotty and their extended friend and family groups--it's near impossible to put this book down until you're done. Nick's literally unable to relax into his job as VPOTUS (not that it's relaxing at the best of times, but there's a few extra layers of stress in Nick's case), the bodies that Sam has to deal with are literally starting to pile up, and that's just the beginning...
Though you could probably read this as a standalone, readers who've read the other books in the series will have a better sense of shared history and the book will have more impact if you've read the rest of the series--past events, especially those in the book immediately prior (Fatal Threat), effect things that happen here. If it's been a while (or like me, you've somehow missed the last one) you do find out the basics of what you need to going forward, but there's a good chance that just finding out the minimum will make you all that more anxious to read the previous book(s) yourself and witness it all first hand.
But at least it will give me something to do while I wait for #13! ;)

Fatal Chaos equals fatal reader
I have followed this series from the beginning. It was a series that I tracked released of each new book and put the date on my calendar for purchase. NOT ANYMORE. I can't take the sexual exploits of the main characters anymore. I very much enjoy all of the other writing: the case, the drama around the president, the byplay with Sam and her squad, and Sam, Nick and Scotty. I will miss them very much; however, the explicit sex has taken over. I am not a prude but come on......

FABULOUS SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great hit! I absolutely LOVE all the characters in this series. I haven't listened to any other book since starting this series. It is so well written and entertaining. HOWEVER, with that being said...I have one small issue. I love a story that has just the right amount of sex thrown in but with each new book, the sex seems to be getting much more frequent throughout the story. If it continues at the rate it's going, it will be the focal point of the book. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. As for the narration, thank goodness that Eva Kaminsky was narrator of choice in the last two books and will be in the next 4 books. It will end the series on a high note.
