Publisher's Summary

"Afraid to be alone with me?" he challenged. "How am I going to be your boyfriend then?"

"Pretend boyfriend," I emphasized.

He gave me a tight-lipped smile. "You do know that this has to look convincing if you expect people to believe I'm your boyfriend, don't you?"

In desperation, Sarah hires Gage to pretend to be her boyfriend. It was supposed to be only a business arrangement, but now her feelings for her fake boyfriend are real.

Just couldn’t get into it

It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t awful, it just was. I really wanted to like it, but something was missing for me. The narrator did a fantastic job and was very believable as a young girl.

Sweet YA Romance!

This was my first Suzana Thompson's book. This is the first book in the Young Love Series. This is a cute YA Romance. The main characters are interesting and their story is captivating. Sarah and Gage are opposites characters, but they are great together. Sarah is strong and wise, and she learns how to be more confident. I like how Gage is protective and supportive with her. I love their happy ending. I'm looking forward fot the next book in the Series. Kalena Schubert did a good narration, and her young voice fits the characters. Super Cute!

This was a super cute listen, I have a special place in my heart for New Adult/Young Adult Romances. I loved listening as Sarah and Gage got closer to each other in their "fake" relationship as it began to develop into more. The story is kind of predictable, and we start getting hints early on that indicate where the story is going to go. However as it was getting closer to almost the very end, I started to really wonder if the author was going to leave us with an unhappy ending. There are a few things about the characters that are entirely unique which made them relatable and helped us get attached. I did think Sarah's parent's being mostly absent was a little strange. I thought it was a well written clean YA /new adult romance and enjoyed it all the way through.

I thought the narrator did a great job in this performance and that she fit Sarah well. She had just enough emotion in the important parts and kept me engaged in the story.

Very cute story!

This was great. Definitely more suited for older teens with reference to drug and sex. I was a bit surprised at the amount of reference to sex since this is a young adult book and they are usually tamer. Still, I am an adult and I appreciated the realism that teen and young adult do have intercourse and that is normal. Still would probably not give that book to a 12-13 years old.

This book is about being honest with your feeling and being secure with yourself. I found the dialogue to be well written and the story to be just long enough. I sometimes worry when I see 4h books that it would be too short but this was just enough. It took me a while to get into the narration because the voice is so different from the type I am used to. But I got used to it. The narration itself was fine.

a 16+ ya not less

the story was very good it was written in a very interesting manner and the characters we're interesting I would say that the book is very good but I wouldn't give this book to a 9 years old or 10 years old I would give this book to a 15 years old though I know today's children and adolescents are very different the book was a bit specific but not too much as an adult I loved the story

Great listen

I know this is supposed to be a YA listen but it was a bit too much. Be careful before letting young impressionable minds listen. That being said, I did enjoy the listen (but I'm older.)

This book has a great premise. Sarah needs a boyfriend and she approaches Gage to be said. This is a new genre for me and I did enjoy it. The story had the typical high school beautiful girl that does not know she's beautiful and the guy that helps her see it. I think where I take issue with the story is all the second-guessing and hand-wringing and "oh-he-doesn't-really-like-me" stuff that went on. Sarah was smart enough to see a problem, come up with a solution, and put it into action. Why then would she not be smart enough to read Gage? That really did get on my nerves.

Still, I Iiked the listen. It was also very well-narrated.

A Lot of Fun!

Desperate to stop her new stepsister's harassment, Sarah hires Gage to be pretend to be her boyfriend. She hopes a few fake dates will convince her stepsister that she's not a threat, but her time with Gage seems like so much more than a paid arrangement.

This was a great YA novel I'd recommend for older teens, there's some explicit situations and language not suitable for younger teens. The hired boyfriend story is one I will never get tired of, I love all the different ways two people can fall in love. The author created two likable characters that were perfectly balanced and, well, perfect together. Gage is just dreamy, a true rock Sex God, and I loved watching him open up to Sarah. Sarah can lack confidence at times, but she is always friendly and kind. The book was a lot of fun. I would love to read a sequel featuring Dillan or Emily, as long as it has a cameo and update on Sarah and Gage!

The narration was well done, Kalena Schubert has the perfect voice for Sarah, and performed voices for each character. It pulled me right into the story and back into high school *yikes!*. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

More than what I expected

Sarah and Gage, I loved their story, I'm definitely looking forward for the next book. Good YA book, where teenager hires a fake boyfriend and gets more than she expected, a future rockstar, a bad boy outside but a sweet attentive guy in the inside. Kalena Shubert did a good job narrating this audiobook. It was short but hopefully we get more in the second one, as I think of done right it can be a good series.

Fake Boyfriend

I love these two! Despite totally different backgrounds these two fit each other perfectly. The do have a bit of confusion as to what the other feels because of the deal that began it all but they find a way to make it through and give us a hea. I can’t wait to see what may come next in this series.
