Publisher's Summary

A special edition of Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett reissued with a bright retro design to celebrate Pan’s 70th anniversary.

It is 1944 and weeks before D-day. The Allies are disguising their invasion plans with a phony armada of ships and planes. Their plan would be ruined if an enemy agent found out...and then The Needle - Hitler’s prize undercover agent, a cold and professional killer - does just that. Hunted by MI5, he leads a murderous trail across Britain to a waiting U-boat. But he hasn't planned for a storm-battered island and the remarkable young woman who lives there.

Eye of the Needle, Ken Follett's breakthrough international best seller, is a heart-racing, exciting tale about the fate of the war resting in the hands of a master spy, his opponent and a brave woman.

A real page turner.

This is an exciting , fast paced book. Beautifully written, and the narration by Sam West is brilliant. I think the characters are well drawn, and Sam Wests voices and accents are top notch. I'm keen to listen to more of Ken Follets books.

Great delivery of a poor story

The performance is excellent and Ken Follett writes beautifully as always. Sadly, at multiple points in the book the plot is just ridiculous. Time and again the spy catchers allow their quarry to slip through their fingers in the most incompetent way. It is a shame, because better plot planning could have avoided the recurrent shattering of the illusion.

A gripping story

I love Ken Follett’s books and this was no exception.
It took a while to get going, but once into it, I could not stop listening.
My only criticism is that some on the location descriptions were too long.
Recommended for anyone who likes a spy thriller.

Well written

Great narrator and good story which manages to keep us engaged despite the many unattractive traits of the lead character. Germany’s greatest spy, the Needle, is intent on getting key information to Hitler which could turn the tide of the war. All that stands between him & success is a university professor, his trusty lieutenant & a housewife stuck on a tiny, remote Scottish island.

Another excellent plot.

Very gripping and engaging. The characters are believable and likely;topped with Sam West's brilliant narration.Im glad he didn’t sink into heavy german accents .His understated suspense was all the more chilling .I shall look for his name again.

Exciting adventure story - unputdownable!

This is a gripping adventure story about a German spy working undercover in England during World War II; and the race to prevent him revealing the D-Day battle plan to his spymasters. It would be unputdownable if it were a book!

An excellent nation by Samuel West adds to the enjoyment of this book. I would readily listen to it again.
