Publisher's Summary

A special edition of Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett reissued with a bright retro design to celebrate Pan’s 70th anniversary.

It is 1944 and weeks before D-day. The Allies are disguising their invasion plans with a phony armada of ships and planes. Their plan would be ruined if an enemy agent found out...and then The Needle - Hitler’s prize undercover agent, a cold and professional killer - does just that. Hunted by MI5, he leads a murderous trail across Britain to a waiting U-boat. But he hasn't planned for a storm-battered island and the remarkable young woman who lives there.

Eye of the Needle, Ken Follett's breakthrough international best seller, is a heart-racing, exciting tale about the fate of the war resting in the hands of a master spy, his opponent and a brave woman.

A real page turner.

This is an exciting , fast paced book. Beautifully written, and the narration by Sam West is brilliant. I think the characters are well drawn, and Sam Wests voices and accents are top notch. I'm keen to listen to more of Ken Follets books.

A gripping story

I love Ken Follett’s books and this was no exception.
It took a while to get going, but once into it, I could not stop listening.
My only criticism is that some on the location descriptions were too long.
Recommended for anyone who likes a spy thriller.

Great delivery of a poor story

The performance is excellent and Ken Follett writes beautifully as always. Sadly, at multiple points in the book the plot is just ridiculous. Time and again the spy catchers allow their quarry to slip through their fingers in the most incompetent way. It is a shame, because better plot planning could have avoided the recurrent shattering of the illusion.

German Spyletto

A good and very well read book. A story of many turns and looked at from all the different peoples aspects at a time when the war was at its most important point as far as England was concerned.

Exciting read.

The story is interesting and well written. It gathers momentum as keeps your interest right to the very end. The premise is plausible. The sense of urgency gives the narrative a fast pace.
The narrator is excellent. Each character has a distinct voice and Samuel West switches from one to the other with deceptive ease.
Highly recommended.
