Outstanding, an actual 'Good Times' read

As a former military officer I thought the modern generation of leadership training would have moved on from what I was taught over two decades ago, it hasn't, just the basics refined and enhanced (with better toys in support).
In my current role as a C suite executive this book served as a reminder of how these military principles should be applied in the coroporate world.
On a personal note, the recollection of training and combat actions bought back memiories. Often I found myself smiling and nodding in agreement.
Great job lads!

A collection of war stories

25mins of war stories for one line of leadership knowledge. Better books out there. Try David Goggins

Extremely Good Book

If you could sum up Extreme Ownership in three words, what would they be?

Get after it

What other book might you compare Extreme Ownership to, and why?

This book is in a category of its own!

What about Jocko Willink and Leif Babin ’s performance did you like?

Both Jocko & Leif have a lot of conviction in there voices.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me re-think previous situation I have been in and how I can improve my reactions in the future.

Any additional comments?

Being ex-military I have found no better information on how to transfer skills to the civilian sector. THIS BOOK SHOULD BE MANDATORY READING FOR DISCHARGING SOLDIERS.

Well worth the price

Lots of actionable advice with highly relevant parallels between military experience and its application to business/ life in general. Listened to it twice already. Highly recommend.

Tested Insight

Read by the authors in tones reflecting their experience, this book offers tried and tested principles of effective leadership in a manner refreshingly free of corporate spin and new-age sophistry. Simple and memorable overarching principles are introduced and then well substantiated with examples from the civilian and military arenas; supporting their potential effectiveness and possible applications to the reader's own life.

70% of every chapter is glorifying their heroism

I found this book a big waste of time. they keep talking and talking and talking about their heroic stories, and just the last 30% of every chapter is a meaningful applicable lesson. seriously, there are book whose writers are straight to the point with no fluffing around, like Atomic habits. This book however, is not one of them.
if you'd like to listen to endless stories however, you might enjoy it. I didn't.

Great book but slow start

This is a fantastic book but I admit to struggling through the first chapter or two. After then, it's all gold. for me, the Audible sample did not do the book justice.

90% war talk 10% leadership principles

Lots of rubbish about the Irak invasion for example in a 40 min chapter you get 32min of rubbish war/invasion talk and 8 min of leadership applied in business.
Returned it, couldn't finish it.
Good presentation by authors though
30min summary would suffice

Returned it - Only gave it an hour.

The reviews on this book really made me want to give it a listen, so I purchased it... Later, I refunded it for my credit back.

To be fair, I didn't really give it much of a chance, only listened to an hour or so, but that was enough.

The whole first hour is the two guys telling you why they've written the book, over and over again. One of them, with a super deep tough guy voice, tells a combat story which is so full of unexplained military jargon that I was confused and didn't really know what he was talking about.

The biggest disappointment was probably the fact that in the introduction, they tell you that they've changed just about every detail relating to every story, as well as added or taken away pieces that make their stories compatible with Business training scenarios.

I actually paused for a moment because it took him so long to explain how many details they changed or added that I nearly turned it off at that point.

It's likely that their leadership training was developed in the writing room, as opposed to on the battle field.

The usual US Military

This book certainly isn’t bad, it has many practical points, however it takes a long time to get the point that relates to business.

Be prepared to hear how amazing the US armed forces are, over and over again. Just when you may have forgotten how good they are, BOOM. They’ll tell you again.

Wait, and again.
