Publisher's Summary

Do you want to show your data in a stunning dashboard? Or do you want to create a dashboard that you have to update frequently? Let's talk about how to do it! Any report you want! Are really serious about Excel pivot tables and Dashboard and want to get into the real "Excel" world within the next seven days of your life?

If yes then you are in the right place. Why? Because this is the only book that comes with interactive codes (thoroughly tested and proofread by experts), expert tips and tricks (to stand out from the crowd), and exercises (with their solutions) (to make the concepts stick to your mind).

Excel is a powerful yet highly accessible tool for data analyst using data stored on spreadsheets. Microsoft is continuously developing new features based on feedback by Excel Power-User beta testers, data analysts, and Excel aficionados. Regardless of these new features, those who get the most out of the data analysis features in Excel are those who understand the investigative process: creating new ways of looking at the data through asking the right questions.

Excel pivot tables have many features that allow you to cut and slice data on the fly. After initializing and loading the data into pivot tables, it is a straightforward process to create interactive drag-and-drop analyst dashboards. Excel for the web even makes it possible to publish dynamic dashboards online for your clients.

However, unfortunately, many tend to mistake Excel and pivot tables as the primary tool for creating these new perspectives. While these tools may allow you to create a presentation, the impact of that presentation depends solely on your grasp of the analysis process and the way you present your content. Accurate and scientifically sound modeling is the only way to ensure data-driven business decisions. This distinction separates data entry freelancers from business analyst consultants who inform trends in their field.

Excel PivotTables and Dashboard is not just a step-by-step guide. This book can serve as a valuable resource for:

  • Mastering easy, powerful techniques for creating, customizing, and controlling dynamic pivot tables in Excel 2019
  • Strategizing your investigative approach, particularly for data analysts and consultants informing business decisions
  • Best practice for scientifically sound modeling, reporting, and sharing interactive dashboards
  • Common troubleshooting considerations for overcoming technical issues

Impactful analysis takes practice and a level of technique, much like the creative field. To effectively render and represent ideas, even artists must practice techniques that inform trends in their field. Analysts must take a similarly methodical approach to be valuable and give insightful observations to decision makers. Excel PivotTables and Dashboard is a beginner’s guide to making presentations that answer why and how your analysis will impact your client’s bottom line.

Remember you can never compare a well-structured (paid) book with free online resources like Youtube channels, discussion forums, and other online courses (mostly outdated). Now if you are really serious about Excel PivotTables and Dashboard then scroll up and click the buy now button!

I love to use Excel

I have purchased two courses from SJ Publishing, and I have to say am very impressed with the quality of the material. The content and insights are not only easy to follow-along, but actionable and relevant to real-world applications. Furthermore, Excel pivot tables have many features that allow you to cut and slice data on the fly. After initializing and loading the data into pivot tables, it is a straightforward process to create interactive drag-and-drop analyst dashboards. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to design and develop dashboards that will wow their audience.

Like a private tutor

Great, approachable course on Pivot Tables and Dashboard, which includes some very helpful tips about Excel, like this is the only book that comes with interactive codes, expert tips and tricks, and exercises (with their solutions to make the concepts stick to your mind). Truly for a beginner who has no knowledge of Pivot Tables. Course is very thorough and extremely clear, taking everything step by step. I love that he uses the Common troubleshooting considerations for overcoming technical issues, as it is something that many people are familiar with and helps make the course more tangible. Thank you!

Audible Excel

I love this course and the instructor. Great speaking voice, very clear and pleasant to listen to (very important). I went through all the study examples and although some things were a bit above my head, I learned a lot. I wasn't able to complete all the homework but I'm determined to learn Excel and will take the course over again. Thank you.

Good aid to learning

The course gives a very good and comprehensive overview on pivot tables and their practical use with Excel Dashboard! The narrator is also easy to listen to... I have some background in pivot tables, but I think the course is both for beginners and advanced users...

As Advertised

This is as advertised. It goes step-by-step through creating and formatting a pivot table and pivot chart and how to create a dashboard by placing multiple tables and charts on the same worksheet. Lot of information found in this course. Dashboard course along with this course will be more helpful as a complete package.

Best price I found!

Everything you need to get started using Excel pivot tables. The amount of content and pacing was perfect for me. The real gem is the last session where you use what you learned. This is where you practice, practice, practice those fundamentals on a variety of datasets. I really liked this format instead of the normal “here is how you do it, have a nice day” approach. Worth every penny of the £6.39 price.

A1

Good value tying together concepts spanning formulas, pivot tables and charts as well as VBA. Strategizing your investigative approach, particularly for data analysts and consultants informing business decisions Advanced users will be familiar with many of these concepts but this adds value in the way it connects them Common troubleshooting considerations for overcoming technical issues Regardless of these new features, those who get the most out of the data analysis features in Excel are those who understand the investigative process: creating new ways of looking at the data through asking the right questions.

How to build Balanced Scorecards

Where was this book when I was in graduate school struggling to use Excel? The sheer volume of information in this book (for me) makes it a definitive guide to Excel. I used Excel for statistics in grad school and I use Excel every semester in teaching as I use it to calculate my grades for my students and in other forms of online reports that I need regarding assessment and evaluation. However, let me just make it clear that I find Excel hard to understand in terms of getting formulas right and thus getting calculations and reports right. I always need help with it and help is not always available. I probably would use Excel more if I could look things up and have it explained to me in a simple and clear way and that is what I think this book does. Don't get me wrong, the sheer volume of this book is a bit intimidating to me, but I would rather have a comprehensive guide like this that to not be able to find answers. I really feel (from the limited use I have from this enormous tomb), that if this book does not have it, then you probably don't really need to know that. I have relied on other books or similar ones (as there are all sorts of these types of books for all sorts of subjects including nursing, from nursing publishers, and is content which I teach), and find that they are all pretty good guides (some better than others of course). This series has been around a long time but this is the first one that I know of that has such a huge volume of information for the reader. My APA manual is dog-eared, and honestly, if this manual becomes dog-eared over time I will be a happy camper (and right now, I think it is destined toward a lot of use).

Excellent resource you won't find elsewhere!

This is a great course. This was the first time I have used VBA, so I would appreciate a higher level introduction to the language, but I am sure there is also a course for that :-). I keep coming back to various key bits of this course, so I am glad that others have marked particularly useful sections.

Straight to the subject

I needed to learn about Excel Dashboards in a hurry for work. It took a couple weekends slogging through this book to finish the whole thing but I managed to learn what I needed within an hour of getting it. It is set up well with clear explanations, logical progressions, and technical information peppered in. Everything I've come to expect form a Hein Smith's book.

Excel help

I am a newcomer to Excel and have previously taken a few basic courses. I wanted to sharpen my Excel skills and this course was really amazing. The instructor was excellent! He explained everything clearly, gave real great resources to try to analyze and responded promptly to any questions. I totally reccomend this course and I will definitely check out the other courses Chris has given. - Thanks again Smith.

Excellent soup to nuts guide to Excel

Highly recommended as a beginning text, as long as you already know your way around the basics of Excel, and are willing to work the exercises, not just try to listen it. Also works as a good reference. For more fun, listen it with two phones, one for the PivotTables, one for the Excel Dashboard, and save some toggling! This narrator has a unique three bears talent for teaching, not too slow, not too fast, just right if you're willing to invest some effort.

Very Useful Primer

This course really opened my eyes to the power of excel, and there are functions, features, and programming I can use in my daily work. Excellent presentation, Smith took his time and explained everything clearly. This has motivated me to take a VBA course. Thanks you
