We all have a longing to be significant. We want to make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. But many people wrongly believe significance is unattainable. They worry that it's too big for them to achieve. That they have to have an amazing idea, be a certain age, have a lot of money, or be powerful or famous to make a real difference. The good news is that none of those things is necessary for you to achieve significance and create a lasting legacy.

Story
True leadership isn't a matter of having a certain job or title. In fact, being chosen for a position is only the first of the five levels every effective leader achieves. To become more than "the boss" people follow only because they are required to, you have to master the ability to invest in people and inspire them. To grow further in your role, you must achieve results and build a team that produces. You need to help people to develop their skills to become leaders in their own right. And if you have the skill and dedication, you can reach the pinnacle of leadership....

Publisher's Summary
The world's most respected leadership expert gives five principles and five practices for breaking the invisible barrier to leadership and personal success.
You have a good idea but can't convince your peers of its merit. You crafted a groundbreaking strategy, but the team trudges on in the same old way. Certain people move forward in their career, while you seem to be stuck. If this describes you or someone you know, the problem is not the quality of what you have to offer. The problem is how you connect with people to create the results you desire.
In Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, John Maxwell takes readers through the Five Connecting Principles and the Five Connecting Practices of top-notch achievers. He believes that a person's ability to create change and results in any organization - be it a company, church, nonprofit, or even a family - is directly tied to the ability to use the teachings of this book.

Not complete
I got the book and the audio version to "read along" which was impossible to do since the audio version seems to be an abridged version. I don't know who made the call to not have the full version of the book here but a heads up would've been nice.
The reader does a good job but unfortunately due to this being a reduced version it didn't serve the purpose I needed or expected.

Good book
This book met my expectations. John Maxwell has really good communication points. The book helped me to understand that connecting is not about me.
I always loved the quote which he used in this book that "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Another interesting statement was that connecting and becoming a good communicator is skill and not a natural ability. He used Moses as an example.
This is a book that I will listen to again.
