Story
Nadia gets the 7.30 train every morning without fail. Well, except if she oversleeps or wakes up at her friend Emma’s after too much wine. Daniel really does get the 7.30 train every morning, which is easy because he hasn’t been able to sleep properly since his dad died. One morning, Nadia’s eye catches sight of a post in the daily paper: To the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress. I’m the guy who’s always standing near the doors.... Drink sometime? So begins a not-quite-romance of near misses, true love and the power of the written word.

Absolutely brilliant
I loved it. The hardest part is knowing I have to wait for 2 more books. But knowing their story will continue fills me with so much happiness. This is an incredible story and written by a husband and wife team. You can hear their voice in the characters giving them life, giving them depth. It works so well and is so magical. Can’t wait for book 2!!!!! Hurry up and write it!!

Eve of Man Review
I decided to read this book as a part of the Livre D'Amour book club. The title and description of this book had me questioning whether or not I would actually enjoy reading this novel. I am not familiar with the authors and quickly noticed that obtaining this novel was a bit of a challenge. I was fortunate enough to obtain this novel from the Amazon warehouse, however some of the book club members had some trouble locating a copy. My guess is that we struggled to obtained copies since this novel came from a UK based publishing house. However, the hunt for this novel was totally worth it! This novel was extremely interesting from the beginning. I was so drawn in by the first couple of chapters, and I simply could not put the book down. I wanted to keep reading more and more about this amazing story! The future of humanity the authors create gave me anxiety, and I needed to know what the future held for the human race. From the very beginning, I followed the rising tension in this story. I was able to follow the curiosity of the characters and became so invested in the story and interested in the secrets they would unravel. This story read like a movie, and the tension and action was well-crafted and portrayed. I enjoyed every bit of this novel and was excited to know that this novel was the first in the trilogy. I cannot wait to see what is in store for these characters. Audible Review Ritchie and Dylan do an amazing work! Perhaps I am bias because I love their accent so much, but this was one of the most enjoyable narrations I have heard. I had no problem getting into this story and their narration made the novel all that much more enjoyable. For those of us who like to multitask and listen on the go, I recommend listening at a 1.5 speed, so one does not miss anything. For those who are listening while reading the book, I found 2.0 and 2.5 speed to be the best speeds. 3.0 was too fast for me, and I was missing a lot of what the narrator was saying and had to eventually slow down the narrator's reading speed.

Terrific Narrators, Slightly disappointing Story
I initially found the premise of this book intriguing, but sadly the characterisation and world-building did not match-up to my expectations. For a duo authorship, there were very little differences in the writing styles for the different characters - although Eve's chapter's had a psychological darker portrayal, whereas Bram's were more visually action packed which made little sense. Eve was by far the strongest narrator and her character made the most sense in terms of how she was raised and her destined role within this corrupted society. Bram's character really was a disappointment and I honestly found his storyline confusing - especially when he is given such power and respect from a group who barely know him - which leads to my point that the hierarchy and political tensions were rather underdeveloped. This book could have really explored the fluidity of gender and sexuality between men and women in a segregated society and there were even hints of this, but it became clear that nearly all the male and female characters were portrayed within stereotypical roles. Another aspect of this book I found inconsistent was the maturity - there were times where the book would go into darker themes, but then others where the story became almost juvenile. For a YA sci-fi novel, this really fell flat in terms of storytelling and I'm more disappointing because it had a lot of potential. One of the aspects I did enjoy was the narration of Charlotte Ritchie and Josh Dylan within this audio book, both actors gave terrific performances throughout.

This book is amazing Tom and Gi have surpassed my expectation of what to expect from Eve of Man and I have listened to the whole thing in one day!! The characters are relatable, loveable and dislikeable in all the right places. The description of the world in which Eve is living in is so detailed and intricate I was right there with her!! So many twists and turns I was hooked from get go right to very last word!!! I CANNOT wait for book 2! In fact I’m off to start this all over again thank you mr & mrs Fletcher xxx

Predictable.
Writing is so descriptive of feelings that it borders on being cringy at times. The storytelling is quite basic; details that would help set the scene are missing, so the world created by the book is very one-dimensional. The characters are either Good or Bad, which makes for zero character development. A dystopian novel that takes on such huge issues should strive for more.

An Overall Average Listen.
An enjoyable but forgettable book, well read but overall let down by the story itself. In comparison to other books in its genre, the characters are less memorable than would be preferred, and the subject matter is at times uncomfortable, but not compelling enough to be worthwhile.

Slow plot
Limited story line. In short about the only girl alive stuck in a tower, trying to escape with the help of Bram. I had the audio book so in theory, 12 hours of this. Lost interest on many occasions and wasn’t fussed about listening to the last two chapters, which are usually the most gripping, but made myself out of principle.
