Highly recommended!

This series was highly entertaining and the narrator kept me interested in listening to all three books in succession! A richly detailed world, with a well thought out plot and fully fledged out characters, both inside and outside ‘the game’. There are a few characters that I would like to see stories about, including the main 3 players/ adventurers!

Skip the first book then go ahead

OK I got threw all three books. you can skip the first one entirely. you will get nothing good in it other than a very cool pet companion for the MC. The MC is simply a heavily damaged teenager like many others out there. only she insists on reliving her trauma over and over for us. while i understand it as a character development tool you really get BEAT OVER THE HEAD with it. the main cause for the MC to be in the financial problem she is in is so unlikely that it really doesn't even matter in the long run as a plot device. Someone else will have to come rescue the MC from that particular and life ending. threat. it is apparent from the beginning that she will be unable to deal with it on her own and that she has apparently fallen into the clutches of the only evil company on the planet.
But with extensive use of fast forward you can get what you need from the first book to enjoy the second and third in the series. Reynolds puts together a good engaging narrative in the game world with very interesting NPC and PC characters. the out of game stuff really just gets in the way of a good story. So skip anything taking place outside of Eternal and you will have a good time.

Returned

I made it through the first book, of which I have very little to say that is good, and when the MC changes in the second book I had to put it down. It’s a very female / girl finding her way through life kind of story if you’re into that “explain everything 30 times” kind of writing

I cried for an unnamed npc?!

i cried for an unnamed npc. Her death was so visceral and everyone around took it hard. The emotions this book evokes are intense, and beautiful. The mc is also struggling with her own personal issues, and we join her on journey through fear, loss, love, and some great adventures.

Also, the reader is genuinely one of the best I've heard. She gives so much life to each character, and it really doesn't sound like a book, but like we're listening in on the world itself. Definitely going to find more of her work when I'm done with this one!

We get it you're tired.

I honestly tried to get through this series but the characters are just not growing on me half way through. Plus the constant whining about how tired she is and she needs a break. And the dude being really wierd stalker level obsessed with his sister.

Let's face it she really didn't have to struggle. The story starts out with how poor she is and how hard it is to be an earner and BAM. One week later 2/3s of which she is sleeping, napping or taking a break from the game and she makes bank in-game saving her from being forced into endentured servitude.

I just couldn't listen to it anymore, Andrea Parsnue is amazing, love her work in The Wandering Inn.

Too much real life despair

i liked the gaming parts and the world, but the constant real life escalating problems, made me give up on this book. I can recommend it to those who like dystopian real life combination of vrmmorpg immersion, with a mc that is likeable and a bit naive.

for me this story was too depressing.

So Basic

Lacks originality. I usually end up disappointed by litRPG because it feels like someone played a game of D&D, thought it was cool, and then wrote it out on paper. That's fine for some writers and listeners, but it's not exactly my cup of tea. I like twists and turns in my story, where it doesn't follow a point to point progression without deviation. Unfortunately, this story did not deviate in the slightest from the expected and all I wanted by the end of book 3 was for it to be over.

Also. I'm pretty bothered by the quotes from other authors/books that aren't cited towards those authors. "Brad of the Sands" instead of Brandon Sanderson? Really? At least give the authors proper credit.

Not terrible

Narrator is great, as she always is. A lot of teen angst. Biggest issue with it is I keep expecting the author to copy Eddie, Susanna and Susan also. Shoot with your heart, not with your hand. Slay the giant corrupted bear. Even the gunsingers name is dangerously close. Is this supposed to be so much like the dark tower?

phenomenal

An excellent series, the world building is incredible and great depth to the characters. Wasn't overly keen when it started doing chapters from a specific characters perspective as it didn't do it in the first book but you get used to it and its so worth it

I write the best review when I'm drunk

It felt like a long story...thinking back on it it wasn't. it suffers from too much optimism. you will not believe this inthe beginning ir the middle of the book, but trust me ... it is an optimistic book. Andrea P. has a lovely voice and it gives live to the characters. you do not see it (hear it) at first, but it is there and as the book progress you start to feel it. Don't give up on this book(s). I cried my ass of in the end. Maybe is just me,...or it may touch you too

Well written and performed

Quite liked the sound of this one so grabbing a trilogy always helps and having a few main characters who fight their own battles in their own way is great without being too obvious.
I particularly liked how the future IRL worked in helping bring so much of the story and personality into the actual gameworld.
Expected gains is in line with the usual story and with such good narration as you would assume anyways this is a great buy.
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts for everyone

Epic Story

3 books 1 is a winner. The story line is gripping, and keeps you going from one book to the next.

There are a few tough moments towards the end, very strange, but otherwise the character development works really well, and overall a great box set.

I liked the plot and understand where it ended, but wanted to know a little more about her life outside VR and the outcome of the debt collectors.

loved every minute, narrator was perfect, story line was epic with an extraordinary meshing of in and out of game experiences resulting in a very real feel and an unexpectedly emotional ending. A definite top 3 for me
