"Die Dame mit dem Hündchen" ist wohl die bekannteste Erzählung von Tschechow. Es geht darin um einen verheirateten Mann um die vierzig und eine wesentlich jüngere, ebenfalls verheiratete Frau. Beide sind in ihrer Ehe unglücklich, deswegen scheint ein Verhältnis unausweichlich - aus Sicht des Mannes jedenfalls.
Die junge Dame zögert aufgrund der gesellschaftlichen Konventionen und kehrt aufgrund der Erkrankung ihres Mannes vorerst zu diesem zurück. Aber der Schürzenjäger hat Blut geleckt, worüber er sich selber wundert, da er schon viele Affären hatte und selbst nicht ganz begreift, warum er die Dame mit dem Hündchen unbedingt wiedersehen will. Er stellt ihr nach und es kommt zu einem Kuss. Als Bonus befindet sich die Erzählung "Angst" in diesem Hörbuch.
