Critic Reviews

Eruption is extraordinary. It's the return of the big summer blockbuster but it is also something more – the first summer blockbuster masterpiece. Michael Crichton and James Patterson have come together to create a novel that is as thrilling and jaw-dropping as Jurassic Park. Every page of this novel features the best gifts of two writing giants. Full of suspense, frighteningly real and absolutely unforgettable (Don Winslow)
Flat-out incredible. Buckle up. This is heart-pounding storytelling at its finest. I dare you to try and put this amazing book down. It's Crichton-smart, Patterson-paced, incredibly cinematic and it just feels like a giant summer movie. Two of the bestselling storytellers of all time have come together to deliver a hugely entertaining techno-thriller adventure story (T.J. Newman)
Eruption features Michael Crichton's stunning knowledge of science, scientific speculation and edge-of-your-seat storytelling and Patterson's remarkable gifts for suspense and relentless pacing. The once-in-a-lifetime combination of Michael Crichton and James Patterson results is one of the most entertaining novels I've read in years. You will be absolutely riveted as you turn every page (Adrian McKinty)

I couldn't keep listening, the narrator stumbled through the whole thing, slurring and his diction was terrible, stalling in syllables and pronounination of words was way off. I'm sure he was drunk. It totally ruined the story. What a waste of my credit this month.

Terrible narration

Quite a few teist and turns as always

good story

The story was interesting and nicely paced with some humour as well as drama to round it out. Believable and a scarier concept because of that.

Modern catastrophe

I should have read the other reviews before I bought this on Audible. While the story line is fine it is impossible to listen to the narration. I don't like to leave bad reviews and this so far is the only time I have. How this audio book is even for sale is beyond me. The narrater pauses, stumbles , changes the way he talks in the same sentence and at periods I thought it was AI talking. Very disappointing.

Storyline fine. Narration terrible.

Loving the story but the narrator is terrible. It sounds like he didnt prepare to read this at all.

Great story

Books that take time to explain characters and their backgrounds that then wrap up everything in a rush are very annoying. It spoils the book.

Rushed ending

I was able to struggle through several hours of this book’s broken and hesitant narration. Why the producer/director wanted the voice actor to inappropriately pause in the middle of a sentence or hesitate every time they were about to say a characters name perplexed me. Don’t get me wrong I love the story, it’s premise and the characters but every … single … pause and perplexing … hesitation dragged me out of my suspension of disbelief. The actor was able to make some interesting full sentences and has a good voice for the book and the character but I don’t think he was able to complete a full paragraph. So to me it doesn’t appear to be his problem with the flow of the story being continuously broken but the directors instructions. Shame.

I would buy the kindle but it is dearer than the audio book. I’ll have to keep an eye out in my second hand book store to find out what happens.

Spoilt by the narration

The narrator is giving me high school flashbacks to when everyone had to take turns reading Shakespeare out loud in class.
I don’t like to leave negative reviews but I am struggling to keep listening due to the monotoned and stumbling performance.

I am half way through and I’m enjoying the plot so far. I’m seriously contemplating returning the audiobook and buying the ebook.

Struggling to listen to the narrator

The narration of this book completely spoiled what had the potential to be a good story.
The narrators inability to inflect any syntax, sentence structure or appropriate punctuation in the telling of the story detracted from what otherwise could have been a good listen.

Potential???

The reading was so bad I struggled to keep listening. I will never buy a book read by this man again.
