Publisher's Summary

You are a step away from opening your eyes and mind to the world of epigenetics in a manner that will help you appreciate the complexity of the human cell, genes, and other components and how that knowledge is being applied in transforming lives!

In the Dutch Hunger Winter of 1944 - 1945, the individuals who were exposed to the famine just before birth were seen, about 60 years later, to have increased rates of coronary heart disease and obesity compared to those who weren’t exposed to the famine.

That must been a result of an alteration in their genetic coding, right?

No.

Apparently, they were found to have less DNA methylation (addition of methyl groups to the DNA molecule to change a segment without affecting the DNA’s sequence) of the imprinted Insulin-like Growth Factor-2 gene compared to their siblings who had not been exposed, which shows the role of a powerful factor that doesn’t require the change of the genetic sequence in organisms in development and evolution.

That factor is epigenetics and has been singled out by experts as a very important factor in evolution, yet it's so underestimated in modern biology.

But how is this process organized and controlled in the human body? How is it being used to advance human health? What are some of the innovative ways we benefit from it, perhaps harness its power to improve chronic diseases and conditions? Are there any risks in epigenetic therapy? How does epigenetics work at the most basic level?

If you have these questions now or have been having them before you landed here, then you are at the right place. This book answers these and many more questions to give you an insight into a mechanism that has become of central importance in modern-day genetics research in the most straightforward, simple, and comprehensive way.

The aim is to see how gene expression can successfully be altered without touching the DNA sequence, what that means for the resultant expression of traits, and how this phenomenon can be tapped in understanding life and improving it.

Here’s a bit of what you’ll find in this concise book:

  • What epigenetics is and how it works
  • Why epigenetics is important and how it relates with our experiences
  • The basics of body cells, including what cells really are and how they divide
  • The ins and outs of DNA, genes, and chromosomes
  • How epigenetics are conceptualized today
  • The existing evidence of epigenetic changes within indirect epigenetics, across indirect epigenetics, and in transgenerational epigenetic inheritance
  • The mechanisms of epigenetics and methodological insights
  • How epigenetic therapy is used to treat mesothelioma
  • The types of epigenetic therapies available today
  • The risks, benefits, and research on epigenetic therapy
  • How epigenetic control affects transcriptional regulation in pluripotency and early differentiation, DNA methylation and demethylation, nucleosome remodeling, and chromatin looping
  • The impact of epigenetic changes in diabetes and cardiovascular risk
  • And much more!

Even if you are completely new to genetics or epigenetics in particular, this book will be useful and valuable to you even if everything sounds like complex/advanced science because the book takes a beginner-friendly approach to the topic.

Appreciated This Audio Book.

This book opened up so much. I was interested in epigenetics and wanted to know more and this book did it well. The sign of a good science book is that it leaves you asking even more questions and this book certainly did that. Nearly half the book is notes and references. I should check them out but I felt confident that the author knew the science and that I had no need to. The author has a compelling style.

Highly Recommended Awesome Book.

A lot of reviews are describing this book, so I can be short. Have more than 5000 books, but no one can beat this book in price/value. Anyone interesting in epigenetics, read it, easy listen and valuable knowledge. Do not expect too much practical recipes what to do, this is not that type of book, but you will receive a realy nice understanding of subject from different point of views.

Beautiful Book

This book gives a great perspective on the history and future of health recovery. It also argues effectively that there is no genetic transference of disease.

This is a book that everyone should listen especially Doctors and Nurses. It explains that nutrition is the Main force behind Good Health and Genetics plays Little or NO role it Poor Health. This information is based on Billions of government research dollars.

Excellent Information.

This book is excellent for those searching for answer to health problems but you need to be teachable, have an open mind and have some knowledge in the medical sciences. Excellent listening forand anyone interested in the why enough to really study. An excellent listen for someone thinking of medical school or nutritional degrees. I did like the book.

A Great Book.

This is or should be an eye opener. Some of the stories included about how modern medicine is keeping us ill or worse rises to the level of the criminal. Protect yourself and those you love. This is the ultimate survival manual.

Great information

This book can be hard to listen, but it is worth it. It seems to go off on tangents but the basic premise is extremely important to understand. We need all the building blocks our bodies need to be healthy. Most western medicine treats symptoms not the underlying causes. We are not unhealthy due to lack of drugs. We are unhealthy due to poor nutrition!

ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS ON AUDIBLE!!! 👎

I honestly don't go out of my way to leave bad reviews but wow, this was SHOCKING!!! I am rating this so poorly based on the performance. It was badly narrated! The monotonous sound of the narrator's voice, as well as the poor quality recording (too bassy) made it INCREDIBLY difficult to listen to and take in what was probably some valuable information. I couldn't bear it passed the 2nd chapter! ☹️

The Best Book.

I have listen this book twice and have started it again with my yellow highlighter. If you have concerns for your health and cannot trust a Dr to help you, then this is a very good listen.
