Strange to comment so negatively but it is hard to believe this was written by Linda La Plante. Whilst it gave a vivid insight as to the atrocities perpetrated on children during the Nazi regime it was almost too vivid in its descriptions hence making listening very challenging. Also the story seemed very convoluted - shifting all over the place and in different time periods. So much so that I felt as if I needed a story plan in front of me to follow the narrative.

Definitely not as good as her other works.

Sorry but I love all Lynda La Plante books but just couldn't get into this one and couldn't finish it. This was also in a bug way due to the narrator. I found her voice irritating and had to stop. I wonder if I read the book if I would have enjoyed it more

Seriously cannot believe that this is written by the same author that has been on of my favourites forever. So disappointed I wasted my money on this crap. I understood from the preview that it was the usual type of read from Lynda La Plant… but this was something else.

I loved this book. I finished it today which is Holocaust Remembrance Day. This story is told with truth and empathy. It’s sad but also joyful.
