About this listen

The latest compulsive thriller in the New York Times best-selling Mitch Rapp series.

America is reeling from the national blackout that swept the nation, continuing to dig out of the power outage. And the new president is unlike any Mitch has worked with in the past; he is extremely dictatorial and sees cracks in America's democratic institutions that he believes can be exploited to put his family in power permanently.

As Mitch backs away from the new president, he in turn questions Rapp's loyalty. Mitch decides to take a much needed break and moves to his house in Cape Town, where he gets pulled into a job with Nicholas Ward, the world's first trillionaire. It has been discovered that there is a mole in the CIA who's been digging through their systems for information on Ward so, after thwarting an attempt to kidnap him in Uganda, Mitch makes it look like the abduction was successful. The hope is that this will give Rapp the freedom to track down the person who has been able to gain such deep access into the CIA's mainframe.

Rapp, completely cut off from the agency, must uncover the identity of the mole and deal with him. But the situation is deeper and more complex than he ever could have imagined, involving the president of the United States himself.

Great book with an easy read and lots of action and complex storyline. Rick recommend that you read it.

Enemy at the gate!!

Th narrator was brilliant as always.
I cannot reconcile the story of this one with the series. The author changed a significant character's behaviour which was contrary to their prior construction in Flynn's world. It was disappointing. It just didn't fit the metanarrative in my oppinion.

Unfortunately my least favorite: inconsistent

The plot is fast paced and the characters are well written and interact in an exciting way.

Action packed

I loved this story. Excellent as always, with an intriguing new character. With the ending, I can’t wait for the next book.

Incredible

Probably the best one by Kyle Mills so far. Thrilling to the harsh ending.

Kyle Mills nails it.

The narrator sounded like somebody trying to imitate Donald Trump. Pauses mid sentence like a child learning to read. I only just persevered because the story was good.

horrible narrator

Disappointing. Narration was jerky with most sentences broken up into unnecessary segments. Very off putting.

Story line not as good as previous books.

Jerky narration, average storyline

For the most, story is sound and adventurous. However, as with all his narration, George Guidall slurs his speech, especially at the end of a sentence. This is infuriating as I continually have to rewind and replay to attempt to comprehend what is being said. Fortunately, there is a new narrator covering from the book after next. I simply think Guidall is too old to be employed in audiobooks any further. Last I read, he was in his late 80s.

I was also stunned by the ridiculous situation created to get Rapp out of Saudi. Pathetically unacceptable in a modern thriller. An easy out for a struggling writer. I stopped listening at that stage.

Slurred narration and ridiculous situation
