Publisher's Summary

Four top experts provide a plan to help prevent the Parkinson's pandemic, improve care and treatment, and end the silence associated with this devastating disease

Brain diseases are now the world's leading source of disability. The fastest growing of these is Parkinson's: The number of people with Parkinson's doubled to over six million over the last 25 years and is projected to double again by 2040. Harmful pesticides known to cause Parkinson's proliferate, many people remain undiagnosed and untreated, research funding stagnates, and the most effective treatment is now a half century old.

In Ending Parkinson's Disease, four leading doctors and advocates offer a bold but actionable pact to prevent, advocate for, care for, and treat one of the great health challenges of our time. This is a critical guide for anyone who has or could be touched by this disease.

Critic Reviews

"Over the next 25 years, the number of people with Parkinson's disease is expected to double to at least 12.9 million. With its forecasted exponential rise, most of us will either be affected personally within our own families or know someone with the disease. This book is a must-read for all of us who are or might be affected. It pulls no punches with regard to the seriousness of this emerging pandemic, and its common-sense environmental approaches and precautions, if implemented, will abate the spread of this insidious disease. I know this to be true. I lived it." (Lonnie Ali)

"Parkinson's disease is not one disease but rather a collection of many with different contributing factors, and it satisfies many of the criteria of a pandemic. While the authors of Ending Parkinson's Disease are hopeful about making patients' lives better, their real passion is clearly centered around preventing people from ever having to face the disease in the first place. The book is a real eye-opener for people with Parkinson's, caretakers, and healthcare professionals, and should be used by activists all over the world in their discussions with politicians, policy makers and budget holders." (Susanna Lindvall, vice president, European Parkinson's Disease Association, EPDA)

"This book offers a clear pathway forward - while sounding out a resounding clarion alarm; prompting action - that we should all pay heed to!" (Davis Phinney, Founder, Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's)

Yes Yes Yes! We need more advocacy

Amazing and thoughtful book. A must read for anyone with a connection to Parkinson's or who works in health and Parkinson's Disease.
...but as the book clearly points out this is an issue for everyone! We are all in danger of getting it and it is time to eradicate this disease. The authors clearly explain what we need to do. I was diagnosed at 37 and don't want anyone else to suffer. Now I'm promoting Exercise because of my success in helping manage symptoms with Gymnastics. My latest video 'The benefits of exercise' is super clear, not to mention my before and after video. Now I'm inspired to go further into advocacy.
I used the audible version. Could you include chapter 10 as a PDF as action points? Thankyou

Depressing read by monotone narrator

As someone diagnosed with Parkinson’s 4 years ago, I found this book very confronting and depressing. Story after story of different people’s PD diagnoses and hardships without offering anything positive. Very general information on exercise and lifestyle. Narrator’s voice was like a Dr from the 1950s - very uninspiring.
I purchased this book, because I thought it would be full of helpful suggestions and ideas around exercise, food, and lifestyle choices, which allowed you to continue living your life as “ normal” as possible.
I don’t recommend this book.
