Another entry from the same author in the Book of Fire series, and once again the narration by Lori Prince was excellent. She really has carried this entire series for me, so much so that knowing the next instalment uses a different narrator has me thinking I might stop here.

The story leans heavily into older woman/younger woman dynamics, and while it’s not always my personal go-to, I can absolutely see the appeal. There’s something undeniably hot about confidence, experience, and that imbalance of knowledge and power—and it’s done in a way that’s very spicy and very enjoyable.

That said, as a nurse, I did have to suspend my disbelief during the hospital scenes. Sneaking away for sex in a hospital is… ambitious, to say the least. Patient rooms don’t lock, bathroom doors can be opened from the outside in emergencies, and staff are everywhere. It stretched credibility a bit and mildly offended my clinical brain—but honestly, I rolled with it and didn’t let it ruin the fun.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable listen with a satisfying ending. Strong writing from Emily Hayes, and once again, outstanding narration from Lori Prince, who continues to elevate the material. A hot, entertaining entry in the series, and a solid place to stop while it’s still hitting all the right notes.
