Ella und ihre Freunde verbringen den Sommer in der Natur - mit dem Lehrer, der eigentlich lieber ohne seine Schüler verreist wäre. Beim Zelten im Wald kommt es, wie es kommen muss: Es regnet, der Lehrer lässt die Würstchen verkohlen und die Mücken stechen wie noch nie. Und plötzlich tauchen der Schuldirektor und zwei fiese Typen auf, die mitten im Wald Ferienhäuser bauen wollen! Genau bei der Stromschnelle, wo die putzigen Otter wohnen. Das geht natürlich gar nicht! Aber was kann man dagegen tun? Protestlieder singen, sich als Riesenotter verkleiden und die Tiere an einen sicheren Ort locken, schlägt der Lehrer vor. Aber die witzigste Schulklasse der Welt hat noch viel bessere Ideen.
