A mitad del siglo XVIII llegan las nuevas corrientes neoclasicistas, fruto de la importación como las anteriores. El gusto versallesco de Felipe V fue sustituido por las preferencias italianas y neoclásicas de Carlos III. Es con este monarca, que reina de 1759 a 1788, con quien debemos relacionar la moda neoclásica española, al menos en su época de introducción. Existen algunos ensayos o anticipaciones en tiempos de Fernando VI e incluso en los de Felipe V. Tal hemos considerado obras como el Palacio de La Granja, donde conviven y se intercalan los últimos ecos del barroco con los primeros timbres neoclásicos.
