Clear and informative communication

This is quite a short book but also quite a good one, which deals in a clear and informative way with the skills needed to communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally (eg via body language).

Excellent elementary communication advice

Communication: How to connect with anyone is well written and easy to follow. Lots of excellent advice for people who struggle to know what to say or HOW to say things at difficult times. The advice provided about written communication would be particularly helpful to those people who find themselves frequently misunderstood.

Comprehensive, easy to follow advice

Communication interests me and I'm very intrigued by psychology and that's why I got this book. I'd say I probably have mild social anxiety and speaking to people often makes me nervous, so I was keen on seeing if there were ways to conquer this in this book.

Inspirador

When it comes to communication skills you will often hear people telling you that it's about being yourselves, natural etc.. which is probably true, however it can be argued that some have more talent than others.

book to learn effective speaking

A very comprehensive guide on how to speak effectively. To do a good talk, it requires good preparation, self interest of the topic, and never memorise the talk, focusing on ideas instead of words to speak spontaneously. And most importantly, always look for improving breadth of vocabulary, to push through plateaus so that we can think quickly and verbalize adroitly.

While some say to memorize your speech, this book says that it is much better to speak from your heart than to be stick for the next word.

Learn from the Master of Public Speaking

Best book I have read so far on public speaking. Best advice: be yourself, write down everything you already know before you start your research, be intentional with gestures while practicing but be natural when delivering speech

Awesome Strategies

This book is for me. The last time I spoke in front of a group, I forgot my colleagues name just as I was doing the introductions. How do I recover from that? This book certainly delivers.

Excellent Resource

I was thoroughly surprised by the potential applications of the content. I read this book hoping to gain insight into becoming an effective and confident speaker, but what I drew from it surely surpassed that. Many of the practices referenced in the book can easily be implemented in daily life to help the reader become a more confident and capable person in general.

Good overview on how to reduce anxiety

The notes about imagining the worst were good as was the suggestion to focus on a one-on-one conversation while addressing the whole crowd.

Additionally, the context around audiences was useful in grounding how the environment should be considered during a presentation.

Simplistic

I am pretty much passed that point but did take away one or two inspiring lines. But if you have not really spoken in front of people or you get very very nervous. This would be a good book to start with. If you have been speaking in front of people but just would like to fine-tune things and shake the nerves a little bit this is not the book for you. This would be too simplistic.
