Ho Huans Vater war frühe gestorben. Er hatte ihn in zarter Jugend zurückgelassen. Der Knabe war überaus klug und begabt. Mit elf Jahren wurde er als Wunderkind in die Kreisschule aufgenommen. Seine Mutter liebte ihn über alle Maßen und ließ ihn nie zur Tür hinaus. Als er dreizehn Jahre alt war, kannte er noch nicht einmal seine verschiedenen Verwandten.
