Publisher's Summary

On the first day, a mist descended from the heavens blanketing earth.

On the second day, a cryptic message, "infusion commencing", appeared in the corner of everyone's eyes.

On the third day, the sick were healed and the crippled walked again.

On the fourth day, celebration and joy spread across the globe.

And on the fifth day, the warping began....

There was no warning.

A mist descended from the sky, disabling all technology and causing a weird message to appear at the corner of everyone's eye. The situation grew even worse as animals and people started to warp, transforming into terrible monsters that prey on the living.

Within months, human civilization had crumbled. Unable to fight the seemingly-indestructible beasts, the survivors are reduced to cowering in reinforced shelters. Waiting for the end to come. Helpless.

All seemed lost until a few brave souls discovered the secret of their new reality: the Tec and how to use it to level up.

Together they represent humanity's last best hope for salvation. But they first must find the answers to the mystery of their new existence.

Their journey will require them to quickly adapt to alien technology, operate strange spaceships, and even befriend an extra-terrestrial merchant with an inferiority complex.

Annoying characters

I just did not enjoy this. I found most of the characters annoying at multiple points, just couldn't make myself care at all about them.

Disappointing and irritating

I enjoyed this authors three other books. I am deeply disappointed at how poorly the two female characters are written. SPOILERS. Nori seems to be extremely unrealistic. A college student and martial arts teacher somehow knows more about survival than a retired marine? And Lana is just badly written, no ifs ands or buts. Six months into an apocalypse and this girl still believes in decency and rule of law? Plus Kuznits willingly wrote in contradicting behavior and statements. In one instance Lana states that the warped need to be stopped with violence, and then one minute later, after a plan of attack is proposed, she immediately responds with " oh, that's to dangerous". Lana will infuriate anyone with even a small amount of common sense. Hope Kuznits kills her off soon. Will not buy book 2, and may not buy anymore books from him.

umm the currency system changes to much from what is stated in early chapters

i’m just confused by the currency payout ... the book has alot to do with making the currency they need to support there fight in the book but after they state it, it starts to make no sense. the explanation is like 5000 a month is normal but simple recharge is 2000 for 50% of the battery which only last a few days ... a case is 50k which was explained as the price of a top quality hover car ... it just doesn’t make sense which implies poor writing standards

I so wanted to like this.

This book is not good. I have some of the author's work and very much enjoyed it.
The concept of the story is pretty good but the characters made it that I could not
enjoy it. The characters think that they are WAY smarter then they are. They are closed
minded and attack the first thing they see that does not look human because it wasn't
like them.
The characters are just... stupid in general.
I will not be getting anymore of this series.

A little messy but with a good heart.

If you like the Alien Invasion with rpg system storyline a la Tao Wong but feel like you’re sort of sick of main character and stories with the viewpoint that all humanity is reprehensible and that the resulting Panik will make it impossible to get anything good done so the main a character should just Mope about and fight and then be misunderstood so they can mope more and leave behind “those that cannot adjust” if you want a more positive outlook and some character that actually try do do good as well as survivors who aren’t all the scum of the earth, this might be for you.
Some issues with pacing and clarity here and there but all I all a good story that moves at a decent pace. Less messy then his desire series for sure.

It’s among the best SpaceRPG’s I’ve encountered on Audible.

I’d normally give this book a 4 because I try to give out 5’s only to truly unique and near-perfect audiobooks. This time however I felt the need to combat the people who are dropping their scores because this isn’t Book 4 of Life Reset/New Era Online... The description makes it pretty clear and so does the title of the book that this is in fact a new series.

I give extra props to Shemer Kuznits for not playing it safe and just writing another FantasyRPG. The main thing this book has in common with his other series is great writing, solid characters, and a storyline that makes you want to immediately dive into the next installment.

Some may try to dis this book for sharing some over-arching world similarities with Tao Wong’s very excellent System Apocalypse series. But that’s like saying any average LitRPG story that has a gamer trapped in a VR game-world is lame because some Russian guy did it first. This book’s characters, plot, and game mechanics have very little in common with Tao Wong’s when viewed with any real literary perspective.

...And even if an author did “steal” another author’s book premise entirely, what would matter is wether the resulting book was worth a listen. In the end I’m always interested in good books regardless. In the GameLit genre we need all the good books we can get to divert ourselves from the depression that’s brought on by having to dig through the immature, unedited, adolescent-fantasy-porn that’s spewed into the “suggested for you” cue like it’s coming out of a fire hose.

In closing, this was a book for which I stayed up way past my bedtime, shirked my work responsibilities, and missed going to the bar with my friends... just because I kept wanting to know what happened next. So ignore the quibblers and the nay-sayers. Shemer Kuznits has delivered a great first installment to another very promising series.

Final note: if I could I’d give the narrator a 3.5. He mostly did a good job but his voicing of the main characters shifted oddly so that you weren’t sure which of them was speaking at a bunch of points. It didn’t really affect the overall experience, but it did pull me out of the immersion several times. Otherwise he did a decent job.

Well done. I liked the story and the presentation

Just enough stats, action and story line. Overall I liked the book and Peter Berkrot did a great job with all the characters. Keep up the good work.

Shemer Kuznits made an oopsie

Shemer Kuznits made an oopsie and it’s called Earth Force.

Let me start by stating that I have listened to Shemer’s other works on audible and I have found them to be very enjoyable. THIS however, is one book that has just been so unbelievably shallow in plot development, character portrayals, and settings. In fact it’s so night and day compared to his other works that I’m finding it rather hard to reconcile his previous works (none of which are below a three star rating) with this steaming pile of poorly narrated pg fluff.

I mean its almost liked he specifically avoided any sort of edginess or meaningful character flaws that make a character both likable and interesting.

You would like this if you watch things as shallow as day time soap operas. You might also like this if your personality could be compared to plain, cold oatmeal.

I truly cannot express how utterly disappointed I am in Shemer’s latest work. What happened?

Terribly narrated, Interesting story...

Really can't emphasize how bad the narration here is. The sorry was pretty interesting, but every voice was just a different accent, and most of those were caricatures that occasionally veered into racist mimicry. The book itself didn't always help with that, TBH.

The characters are really a mixed bag, most of them are outright annoying and again the narration does them no favors. Otherwise, decent premise, interesting world building, a pretty abrupt ending. Probably won't continue series if the same narrator is used.
