Publisher's Summary

Unlikely allies uniting across the world. Blood feuds that span centuries. A single chance at life.

The world watches the sky with trepidation. The insanity of Xenocide knew no bounds, and all will soon suffer the effects he had planned for a millennium. Though none know what is to come, they all know it isn't going to be easy to survive.

The Master has a plan, one that can give the world at large a way to escape the onrushing desolation. It may be on the bleeding edge of morality and what he needs might prove too difficult to secure, but the Master asks for trust.

Cal and Dale both have their role to play as the world hurtles toward destruction. One needs to bring the races of the world together while the other simply needs to survive. Surrounded by supposed allies, the duo will do all that they can to succeed - but with every new arrival comes rising tensions and faltering trust.

The apocalypse is coming. Will honor or greed stand the test of time?

Ended well

Initially didn’t like new voices, but was all good by halfway. Story tied up nicely at end, looking forward to more.

The story was great I liked the whole series

I didn't like that the narration was done by a different person for this book, he didn't listen to the other person's way of narration and butchered the voices changed their way of speaking and even the country the accent came from. he dis a good job of narration and if it was him from the start it would have been fine but changes like that aren't good.

A word of advice for listeners

I originally had this set as a 1 star review, due to the jarring narrator change, but let me tell you what happened...

I was pretty devostated when I saw the ritualist and the dungeon series changed narrator as vikus was near perfect for the role. When I started listening to this one it was just way too much of a change to stomach and I honestly hated most of the voices Luke chose. It made me rage quit and rate 1 stars.

But.. I lasted decided to give rexus and the ritualist a try with Luke Daniels and I have to say... It might have even been BETTER with Luke Daniels as narrator! I enjoyed it more than the previous chapters.

Anyway, that was enough for me to give this one a new crack. I can't say it was as good with Luke, but seeing his phenomenal performance on the other books, I could now stomach the jarring voice changes on this one.

It's certainly worth pushing through the change.

the voice actor was almost unbearable

Took a good hour at least accept the voices. and even by the end it was terrible. every female character sounded violent and more mainly than the male characters. dani especially sounded like a drugo wanting more

Yes, the narrator has changed. Deal with it ! :)

Warning. The narrator HAS changed. Don't let that stop you though. Despite the change from Vikas Adams to Luke Daniels, the story is still 100% Dakota Krout. Bad puns littered through a fairly comprehensive story, this is a fitting "ending" to the CAL arc. There is still potential for Dakota to come back to this, but for now you are not left hanging and the threads have all been wrapped up.
A lot of people have complained about the change in narrator (hence my warning at the start), but Luke Daniels brings an interesting take on things and as long as you go with it, the story is still there for you to enjoy.

Great story let down by the narrator

This is a good continuation to the story and is well written. Sadly, since I have listened to these 5 books back to back, the change of narrator is really jarring- especially since it is in a very different style.

Still worth listening to, just not as good as the previous books.

The twist tho

So as I have already listed to the completionist chronicles the twist at the end is so fuckin good. It gets borderline sci fi at the end. I really would have loved the other narrator to narrate but this guy did an amazing job nonetheless.
