Publisher's Summary

From the bestselling author of Fat Chance and Checking Out comes a hilarious story about giving up…but definitely not giving in.

Kate and Scott’s marriage has always been a lot of fun, with alcohol at the heart of it. After all, what’s more entertaining than a good laugh and a large drink…or six?

But recently, those relaxing drinks have become more crutch than comfort - and the couple have almost forgotten how to talk to each other sober.

Then their teenage daughter Holly uploads a video of their humiliating drunken escapades, which gets picked up by YouTube superstar PinkyPud - and goes horrifyingly viral.

In a last-ditch attempt to prove to the world they’re more than just boozy idiots, Kate and Scott quit alcohol completely. But with Holly’s… er… ‘help’, what begins as a family promise soon escalates into a social media phenomenon: #DryHard!

With the eyes of the Internet upon them, can Kate and Scott stay teetotal - and save their marriage in the process?

Was hoping for a good laugh

Had to abandon. Daughter reminded me gratingly of blue peter presenter. A regrettable buy unfortunately.

Tedious!!!

I’m usually a huge fan of Nick Spalding’s books, he even managed to make a book about dying highly amusing, however this one is definitely the exception.

Flipping Funny

Laughing out loud at inappropriate times inducing book. The situations get more insane but remain credible. Those poor people. Remarkable character development that stays in character during the worst possible clusters. And clusters abound. Great book. Spend your credit on this one. I'll have this one on replay soon.

Aggravating

I have never written a review before but I had to about this book. I usually love Nick Spaldings books but this one really got on my nerves. While there are some funny parts to this book, I thought the way the parents indulges their daughter to be very annoying. What child takes you tube stardom over their parents? Maybe I’m just too old but I don’t get it.

#goodoneNick

Yeah Nick, good story! This one has some funny moments and I was definitely all in for the farce with the social media BS. Kate & Scott having a rough patch was very relatable and almost seemed like people I could know in the real world. The ending was kinda wobbly but it didn't detract from the story at all. Would recommend.

Unrealistic and unbelievable

Two drunks and their lives of alternately being drunk and sober. Neither character was someone you would want as a friend. Quite frankly a waste of my time.

Just ok

This book started off pretty slow, so much so I put it down and debated finishing it. That was well past half way. But I did finish it. The first two thirds of the book appeared to be a series of drunken instances, not tied to any real story. Once a story formed, the book finished up very enjoyable. I selected this book because I enjoyed "Fat Chance" by this same author.

Mediocre

Don't know why 3 narrators were used. The Scott voice was too casual. Also thought it implausible in parts; knowing drinking would be required, company should have had watered down "entertaining" booze. Writing was choppy, but had some good Spalding fun at times. Wouldn't recommend it.

Again, a very fun, easy listen. Also, perfectly narrated as well. Sit back and enjoy some laughs.

Had to push on through to the end

Really annoying narrators, utter nonsense of a story, kept waiting for it to get funny or interesting and it didn't. None of the characters are likeable.

Another winner from Nick Spalding

I have grown to adore the two or more person voices of the Nick Spalding's Audible versions of his books. This one made me laugh out loud. Poor people next to me in traffic.

Entertaining story, great performance

Not the quickest or most engaging story but one I’ve enjoyed listening to. Having three actors made a big difference. I’d recommend it but wouldn’t say it’s a must own.
