In den 10 Autoreferaten des "Französischen Kurses" von 1922 am Goetheanum hat Steiner eine der letzten von ihm selbst veröffentlichten Schriften vorgelegt. Diese enthält eine stark komprimierte Zusammenfassung der anthroposophischen Wissenschaft vom Menschen und der Entwicklung seines Bewusstseins sowie eine Schilderung der Erlebnisse der Seele nach dem Tod und vor der Geburt. Sie stellt so gewissermaßen eine späte Metamorphose und Vertiefung seiner Theosophie von 1904 dar, in welcher vor allem auch seine christologischen Forschungsergebnisse mit einbezogen sind.
