Heinz Sührig (1925-2004) meldete sich freiwillig mit 17 zur Deutschen Kriegsmarine. Er war der jüngste an Bord von U968. An seinem 20.Geburtstag erblindete er infolge einer Explosion in der Zentrale des U-Bootes. Weil er sich aus seinem Haus ausgeschlossen hat, macht sich der Kriegsblinde erstmals nach 40 Jahren allein mit seinem Stöckchen auf den Weg ins 2km entfernte Stadtzentrum seiner Geburts-und Heimatstadt Osterode am Harz. Auf dem Weg erscheinen Menschen vor seinem geistige Auge, die ihm als Sehendem in Kindheit, Schule, Jugend und später als Blindem begegneten. Einfühlsam berührende Zeitgeschichte des 20.Jahrhunderts. Ein Augenöffner auch für Sehende.
