About this listen
He was born anew in a world where martial arts were indistinguishable from magic. He only received a neuronet and meaningless desires from his past life.
What lies ahead?
He dreamed of adventure and freedom, but those dreams were taken away from him. The same way his mother, father, and sister had been taken away. They took the kingdom, they took his own destiny. But he is willing to wage a war, against the whole world if need be, to bring everything back.
Even if the army opposes him, his sword won't waver. Even if the emperor sends the legions, his step won't falter. Even if demons and gods, heroes and enemies alike are to unite against him, he won't bend to their will. His own will is iron itself, unstoppable.
His name is Hadjar, and he heeds the call of the dragon heart within him.

A protagonist boardering on being a Mary Sue, with an easy to follow, 1-dimensional background. Dispite the landscape being bigger than Ben Hur and the tiniest of villages containing millions of inhabitants, the vista is surprisingly grey and lifeless.
The narrator did a good job in the circumstance but was hampered by poor source material.
Dull

The world building itself is a copy from wuxia/xianxia [whatever the genre is], I'd expect the author to add their twist to the genre, their own flare. But I read something so basic to the genre, that begs the question if the author bothered putting their creative mind at work at all.
It doesn't help as well that the performer had a very lackadaisical way of speaking [zen-ish]. So when it came to action scenes, it was not intense at all. Add very strategical expositions, actions scenes felt like monologues.
It's free for a reason.

The story is alright...

The thing that really grinds my gears is the over saturation of fate and plot contrivances. Nothing has the weight it should when you constantly name drop fate like its going out of fashion.
The length of the book is good but the story hasn't really got me invested.
+ the neural link is kinda wasted on the MC WMW does it better.
Its a cultivation novel.
