Publisher's Summary

RHYSON:

She doesn't wear my ring. We never stood before a preacher. The only vows exchanged were between our bodies; between our souls. But she was mine and I was hers until I ruined it. I have to believe that every day, every step, every breath brings me closer to making things right. To making her mine again.

KAI:

I've seen promises broken. I know love makes no guarantees. But things were different for Rhys and me, until he lied, and I walked away. Only there's a chain between our hearts that I can't break. Even if I forgive him, a shadow from my past hangs over us; over this love that reaches all the way down to my soul.

This is Book 2 of the Soul Series. You MUST listen to Book 1, My Soul to Keep, first.

Terrible narration

If this book was read by competent narrators it could have possibly been alright (not great, but an easy listen). It’s like it’s both narrators are just starting out and haven’t actually read it an advance. Emotion is lacking or really weird.

Deep Cries Out to Deep

I couldn't wait to start this book after finishing My Soul to Keep. I NEEDED to know what became of Rhyson and Kai. Down to My Soul is not a stand alone and should be read after book 1 in the series.

At the end of My Soul to Keep Rhyson had a lot to apologize for. His controlling behavior drove a huge wedge between him and Kai and resulted in their separation. I honestly didn't think he could redeem himself. Boy, was I wrong! This book showed a more open and vulnerable Rhyson (along with his alpha side) and I loved it! He truly showed Kai and everyone else how devoted he was to her and their relationship. At times it was borderline obsession, but was totally in line with his personality and character. Unfortunately, I had the opposite reaction to Kai in this book. I respected and really liked her in My Soul to Keep, but this time she came across as whiny, immature, and selfish. I understand that she was terrified of Rhyson's reaction to the big secret, but knowingly deceiving him (especially after the HELL she put him through after his mistake) really made me lose a lot of respect for her. I still love them as a couple, but Rhyson is definitely my favorite of the pair.

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were amazing again in this duet narration and both really shined with their emotional performances. They draw the listener in and have wonderful chemistry that worked perfectly for this series. I'll be reading the final book Refrain since there isn't an audiobook available, but I'm glad that this isn't the end of #Kaison.

Great Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Down to My Soul to be better than the print version?

Yes I would. Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott bring something to the story that words alone cannot bring. The bring life to the characters.

What about Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott ’s performance did you like?

I loved everything. They are great narrators and their voices are so animated.

Any additional comments?

Down To My Soul by Kennedy Ryan was a great book. This was a great continuation of Kai and Rhyson's story. Kai and Rhyson are two characters that you fall in love with and want the best things to happen to. I have enjoyed reading about their journey of music and love. There were many times that I wanted to yell at the both of them but also times that I was so happy for them. I loved this book and can't wait to read more by Kennedy Ryan.

5 Soulful Star’s

I loved book 1, I didn’t like how it ended only because well you have to read it. I am so thankful I got to go right in to this one. The narrators wow, I can’t say enough good things about how they brought this book to life.
The ways they complement each other, I just loved it.

Rhyson, oh I love him but I want to smack him, how did he think she was going to react. Men I have to shake my head. I know what he wanted to happen but it blew up in his face and now he is dealing with the consequences, I feel for the guy I do but a little suffering never hurt anyone… right?

‘Deep Calls out to Deep’

I am just going to randomly put quotes in. Yep so deal. ;)

Kai, I think what she did was the right and wrong thing; I think when you make emotional discussion things fall through the cracks. You can feel her pain in this book. It’s in the narrators words and voice. So it must leap off the page.
You can tell staying away is painful to her but she thinks she is doing what is right. And sometimes our hearts and heads don’t see eye to eye.

‘I live you.’

I also feel the best things in life are things we fight for, so I am glad how things end up working out. But mostly I am glad Kai got to heal from her mother and from her father. Even if just a little bit.

‘Even when we are apart we are together.’

Is it wrong that I loved getting to see all the parts of Rhyson in this book the struggle, the groveling, the love and the pain. Does that make me a little evil if so, so be it. This was one heck of a book.

‘You’re not my ex, you’re always.’

Great story and Kai Kennicot knocked this out of the park

Wen Ross has a great voice as Reyson. He didn't show the much needed sensual emotion for me. Other characters voices were narrated beautifully. This two, now three book series did leave me hanging after the first book. Be warned of this. Then after this second book I wasn't left up in the air. Thanks Kendall Ryan for sharing your gift of writing but always offer whisper sync as my eyes aren't great so I flip back and forth. Enjoyed this book so I'm recommending to all hopeless romantics with hot scenes. Tastefully done..

On the way to redemption

Rhyson had to redeem himself for his controlling ways from My Soul To Keep... and he's on his way.

Kai on the other hand. When will characters learn they should just be honest rather than hide secrets. I mean, I know that would eliminate the need for a book. But sometimes you just want to smack some sense into them.

Pretty good story, excited that there is a third book for these two. I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to them yet.

it was a struggle

I really struggled through finishing this it's not terrible but not great either. I also kind of couldn't stand the heroine of the story she is very selfish and has a do as I say not as I do mindset.

Why

It seems that we female must be dumb can she just tell him and confront the consequences together. No it seems she so dumb. It frustrates me the whole book. Just tell him

Loyalisa30

Kennedy Ryan is one of the best storytellers I’ve read! Kai and Rhyson make me long for a real-life love of this magnitude! The emotion and sacrifice that each one makes and is willing to continue making is phenomenal! Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott outdid the narration! Definitely worth a listen!!

Beautiful Soul Deep Love Story!

I loved this dramatic and passionately beautiful second installment to the Soul series! I was so shocked after reading the sneak peak for Down To My Soul at the back of the heartbreaking end of My Soul To Keep, that I couldn't wait to read what happened next! Kai wanted to prove herself as a talented performer without anyone questioning her success. Rhyson just wanted to help her and keep her safe. In an industry where money and power can create an atmosphere of immoral actions and false loyalty, Kai is learning it's hard to know who she can really trust. Rhys will do whatever it takes to earn her trust again. But will Kai, who only saw broken promises growing up, recognize that before it's too late? Will the luxury she experiences on tour overshadow the deep soul connection she has with Rhys? I was a little nervous and frustrated with Kai and her decisions at the beginning but quickly understood her reasoning thanks to Ms. Ryan's masterful writing. Oh why did I question where she would take me, because I have learned that Ms. Ryan never disappoints! She expertly weaved a tale of loyalty and betrayal, of love and heartbreak, and ultimately of hope and faith. I grew more in love with Rhys and Kai and their families. They were all well developed, honest and organic. The duet narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross really brings them and this story to life. Their chemistry, as they play off each other, gives this story so much heart and makes it even steamier. Kennicott is amazing as Kai, making me feel all her passion, fear & hope, while Ross had my heart racing when Rhyson was struggling with his emotions after learning of Kai's deception.
This story has exciting twists and turns that only picks up speed as it progresses. I was fully engaged from start to finish and was not ready for it to end. I can't recommend this book/series highly enough!
