About this listen

An extensive history of the heirs of Annie Doris Parker McFarland Smith back to her great-great-great grandfather who was born in 1765. This audiobook is the result of my research for a great number of years on the Parker, Noblin, Hudson, Hazlewood, Sumrall, Moffett, Kornegay, and Pearce families. It is my attempt to preserve a consecutive account of the investigation that I have done into the Parker family history for many years.

Chapters 1-5 are about a generation one of my mother’s forefathers and their families. Chapter 6, 7, and 8 are about my mother, Annie Doris Parker McFarland Smith.

Chapters 2-5 include a general history of Bay Springs, Mississippi and Jasper County where it is located.

Chapter 3 is about a Prisoner of War in 1863 who was my great-great grandfather, John Hudson Parker.

In addition to Bay Springs, there are numerous references to the town of Paulding which began to develop after the War of 1812. Prior to the Civil War, it was considered “The Queen City of the East.”
