Zvědavost se nevyplácí! Past, nastražená hajným na kunu, sevřela nesprávnou nožku jiného zvířátka. Lesník veverku vysvobodil a v hájence se o ni postaral. Tak dobře, že se Zrzečka často vracela do pelíšku plného oříšků. V lese však měla také své úkoly. Třeba zachránit svá mláďata spící v bezpečí Starého dubu před dobyvačnými vránami, které si dělaly na její miminka zálusk. Sama by to nezvládla, proto pomohla lesní zvířátka v čele s neohroženým ostřížem. Jednoho dne Starému dubu, jejímu domovu, začnou opadávat listy. Strom je nemocný! Strakapoud umí nemocné větve prohlédnout, ale s rozumem je v koncích. Pomoci může jen profesor Datel. Bude Zrzeččina dlouhá cesta za doktorem lesa úspěšná a uzdraví Datel Starý dub?
