Nach dem meisterlichen Erstlingswerk "Max und Moritz" - gesprochen von Claude-Oliver Rudolph und Ralf Richter, war für Claude-Oliver Rudolph klar, dass er sich mit weiteren Meistern des Märchens auseinander setzen wollte: Hierfür wählte er die Brüder Grimm, deren "pure Erzählung" er sehr schätze. Da die landläufige Meinung "Märchen sind nur etwas für Kinder" schon lange widerlegt wurde, wählte Claude-Oliver Rudolph bewusst interessante Stimmen und Schauspieler aus, um die bereits bekannten Märchen auf eine völlig neuartige Weise sprechen zu lassen. Dies war ihm schon bei "Max & Moritz" so gut geglückt, dass insbesondere in Live-Lesungen die ein oder andere "Lach-Träne" beim Publikum nicht ausblieb.
