Der Autor: Charles L. Fontenay (1917-2007) war US-Amerikaner und arbeitete als Journalist. Er schrieb in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren diverse Romane und Kurzgeschichten im Bereich der Science Fiction. In Deutschland/Europa gilt er als nahezu unbekannt. "Die Jahrtausendflut" hat trotz (oder gerade wegen) ihres älteren Entstehungsdatums nichts an aktueller Brisanz verloren. Die drohende Klimakatastrophe, in Romanform Jahrzehnte zuvor beschrieben, ist allgegenwärtig.
